Press Statement Peace with Proof: Sierra Leoneans Speak to the International Moral Guarantors in Freetown (13–17 April 2026)

SLAM Global urges the International Moral Guarantors (African Union, Economic Community of West African States, Commonwealth of Nations, United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel) to use this 13-17 April 2026 follow‑up mission – apparently led by Madam Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang – to deliver a public, enforceable roadmap to electoral truth: audit, publish, and enforce. This mission comes to follow up on the National Unity agreement (ANU) and Tripartite recommendations, and to develop a monitoring roadmap. We hear unity,‘ but we live in doubt. Margaret, petty trader (Waterloo). If leaders meet behind closed doors, where do citizens speak? Ibrahim, civil servant (Freetown).

Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone‘s 27 June 2023 declaration reported 120 polling stations not entered due to tampering or violence and stated polling‑station details would be posted online. So, publish every polling station, let the numbers breathe. Alhaji, farmer (Kono). Show the forms. Let us verify what we saw. Hawa, student (Freetown).

European Union Election Observation Mission reported a “critical lack of transparency” during tabulation and said results and turnout by polling station were not published online, limiting verification, and that excluded polling stations and 2 reasons were not provided. The Carter Center urged the publication of polling‑station results so parties and observers can cross‑verify.

The ANU itself recorded continued requests for polling‑station results information and created moral guarantors to support and monitor implementation. So, where is morality if truth stays locked? A guarantor must guarantee something – truth, timelines, consequences: Osman, small business owner (Kenema). On inclusion, Sierra Leoneans ask to be seen: Don‘t invite only leaders – invite the people. Youth organizer (Port Loko). Reporting describes meetings with APC leadership; SLAM Global has not seen a public participant list confirming whether Dr. Samura Kamara and grassroots delegates will participate, and we call for transparent inclusion (attendance details unverified).

Our evidence‑based demands: (1) an independent forensic audit of results management and exclusions; (2) a full, searchable, downloadable polling‑station database (results, turnout, registered voters, valid/invalid votes) in line with observer recommendations; (3) secure data custody/escrow and integrity logs; (4) a 30‑60‑90 day public timeline; (5) enforcement triggers for missed deadlines through AU/ECOWAS/Commonwealth follow‑up; (6) whistleblower and witness protections; (7) citizen panels in every region to receive submissions and publish a public scorecard.

Call to action: Stay peaceful – no violence, no hate. Share documented questions and evidence with SLAM Global and demand that, by 17 April 2026, the delegation issue a public communique committing to the audit scope, the data release date, and the enforcement timeline.
