Redemption: Good Signs as More ECOMOG Soldiers, US Navy Forces Arrive to Protect Tripartite Against Bio’s Tyranny
Quick Summary
There is a wind of redemption on the horizon in Sierra Leone in the aftermath of the recent arrival of more ECOMOG soldiers and United States Navy forces.
Sierra Leone is today an open prison under Maada Bio. Critics of the SLPP regime are not safe. Only bootlickers are safe in the country. The suffering people need freedom as soon as possible. The illegal Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio and his electoral thieves would pretend all is well but in reality, there is hot pressure to restore constitutional order soon. The foreign military troops’ arrival is primarily to protect the Tripartite Investigations Committee and to make sure that the implementation of the recommendations in the aftermath is well secured for every stakeholder. And the protection of course of the people of Sierra Leone is paramount during the process of investigations and the implementation stages. (Photo: US Navy in Sierra Leone).
The foreign security arrivals are positive signs for show that there is light at the end of the tunnel, despite the recalcitrance of the Bio regime that continues to drag its feet to slow down the Tripartite investigations. The Tripartite was set up to probe the fraudulent June 24, 2023 general and presidential elections publicly stolen by Maada Bio in connivance with the stinking, corrupt Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone ECSL in the person of Mohamed ‘Humamuee’ Kenewui Konneh.
Many times we some Sierra Leoneans saying that the illegal Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio will never agree to the recommendations that the Tripartite Investigations Committee would make. Those thinking that Maada Bio would be stubborn to agree for its implementation need to think twice because there is no stakeholder, including the obstinate Maada Bio, would dare say no to the recommendations. Remember, it is actionable and implementable, as far as the three parties namely SLPP, APC and the Development Partners are concerned.
It means, any stubborn stakeholder – if it happens to be Maada Bio – would not only be challenging the APC party but he would be in direct collision with the international community. That would be a herculean task to achieve as no one would succeed against the development partners. One important point to realise here is that the Tripartite Committee is only going to instruct the parties concerned to carry out the final recommendations. So, it is mandatory for the two stakeholders i.e. SLPP and APC, to respect the recommendations or face painful consequences.
The Tripartite Committee will never ask but instruct or give orders to the stakeholders to respect the implementation process. So for those who still harbour with the idea that Maada Bio will not agree, it shows that they do not know the power embedded in the Tripartite. It means the two parties have no choice but to do what is in the recommendations. One vital aspect of the Tripartite that doubters do not know is the power it has been invested with by ECOWAS, the United Nations, the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom, etc.
Everyone could remember the Lome Peace Accord in 2002 that finally brought peace to Sierra Leone. The Lome Agreement, which recommended the immediate appointment of the late RUF rebel leader Foday Sankoh to become Vice President under Tejan Kabbah, has the same powers as this Bintumani Tripartite Committee. It means that if Maada Bio says he will not agree to the recommendations, it will be between him and the international community. Everyone knows who will win. This Tripartite business is above the APC, it is above the SLPP, and even above Dr Samura Kamara. APC read it and signed it. SLPP read it and signed it. ECOWAS, UN, US, UK, all have their signatures on the Tripartite.

Simple example here. ECOWAS instructed Bio to release Ernest Koroma, and he did it reluctantly. Maada Bio is not a fool. He alone knows the load he is toting on his head. When the six months expires the recommendations will take place. There is bright light at the end of the tunnel, the brightest of illuminations to usher in democracy and the rule of law and order. As Sierra Leoneans watch the – ECOWAS standby force arrive, ECOMOG delegation has already met with the police chief Fayia Sellu. Also, some officers of the Navy from the United States have arrived. It’s no coincidence! SLPP are afraid of sharing this vital information to their supporters. More details on the US Navy arrival thus –
United States Africa Command and NAVAF Teams Visits Sierra Leone Navy
A five-person team from the United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM) and the United States Naval Forces Africa (NAVAF) have completed a five-day assessment visit from January 29th to February 2nd, 2024, with the Sierra Leone Navy to support the development of its maritime security capability to fully control Sierra Leone’s Exclusive Economic Zone. Explaining their mission and scope of assessment, the Team Lead Kevin Bryne of NAVAF noted that the focus of their assessment will be on Maritime Domain Awareness and Maritime Response for the Navy. Co-Team member from the Defence Security Cooperation Agency forwarded to USAFRICOM, Benjamin McMullen emphasised the importance of strategy and doctrine development as part of the Institutional Capacity Building.
Briefing the visiting team, the Commander Navy, Commodore Philip Juana noted that the mission of the Sierra Leone Navy is to protect the territorial waters of Sierra Leone. However, with its limited capabilities, it’s a continuing challenge. Commodore Juana highlighted the strategic aspiration of the Navy, which is to acquire optimal assets to effectively patrol, monitor and surveil the maritime borders for the enhancement of the blue economy, national and regional stability.
