Warrant Officer Class 1 Moses Brima Kabba, Commander at the Presidential Guard, was murdered on the spot. Corporal Steven shot Brima Kabba to death yesterday morning shortly after the departure of the SLPP Vice President, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, who had given them a small token.

Sources say the fracas between the two soldiers started after Juldeh Jalloh gave the two soldiers $100 bill to be shared between them. The peaceful atmosphere was shattered by the deafening gunshot that reverberated in the quiet air as the Kamajor soldier, Cpl Steven, in the SLPP Armed Forces, opened fire on his superior, Warrant Officer Class 1 Moses Brima Kabba, killing him on the spot.

Eyewitnesses at the murder scene could not believe their eyes as the victim, Moses Kabba, lay on the ground in his full military uniform, dying in front of them following the fatal gunshot. It was even more shocking that a junior soldier, Corporal Steven, murdered his senior colleague.

Even more shocking is the fact that a mere US$100 note was the cause of the murder. But instead of doing the right thing and sharing the money, there was an argument, and in the process, the senior army officer ordered the junior officer Steven to go to the guardroom as the argument became heated. Eyewitnesses say it was at this moment that the junior Kamajor soldier Steven lifted his rifle and, without hesitation, opened fire at his senior colleague and killed him instantly, much to the horror and terror of the passengers and staff present.

A semblance of normalcy returned at the airport after a while as investigations into the matter started at the murder scene. The killer ran away but was eventually caught in Freetown, and photos on social media showed his arrest and his hands tied behind his back by other SLPP Kamajor soldiers.

Family members and friends, and workmates of the victim and the killer, are still shocked. Since 2018, when Bio’s regime took power, the country has systematically descended into lawlessness and gangsterism, mass murders of innocent citizens by the same Kamajor soldiers and police, where the man with the gun survives. The taking of innocent lives is now normal in the country from top to bottom. Drugs are the other weapon used to kill citizens.

Sources close to the friends and workmates at the airport have also confirmed that the dead officer, Warrant Officer Class 1 Moses Kabba, is known for cheating his colleagues when it comes to sharing money that belongs to them. Colleagues say the victim, Kabba, had the bad habit of refusing to share money or gifts with his junior colleagues. To ‘Hollop’ as the Krio say, is not a good habit, but that does not mean anyone has the right to kill a greedy person. But under Bio, life is worthless. A classic example of a dog-eat-dog system! Kamajor killing another Kamajor. Sierra Leone is pathetic, a crime scene indeed.
