It was on that gloomy day that Evangelist Samson, real name Mr Hassan Dumbuya, was assassinated by Maada Bio’s military forces under the command of the wicked Colonel Amara Idara Bangura. Samson’s assassination sparked outrage in Sierra Leone and the world.

The BBC and other international news outlets were in Sierra Leone to cover the August 8, 9, and 10, 2022, protest popularised by social media traitor Adebayor, based in Holland. It was chaotic and bloody as protesters were killed in Freetown and nationwide by Bio’s security forces. On August 14, 2022, disaster struck in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, when Evangelist Samson was specifically targetted by Bio’s security who chased him until he was shot in the back of his leg. Instead of taking the wounded Samson to the hospital for treatment, the evil soldiers drove him in the pickup truck for over one hour, and he bled to death.

Samson’s killing was systematic and targeted by Bio’s SLPP/Paopa hierarchy. It happened after a tip-off by certain media colleagues, cruelly showing where Evangelist Samson was sitting with friends. They saw Samson, and he ran away to escape, but the kamajors chased him before he was shot in his leg, for no justifiable reason.

His beloved political party, APC, let Evangelist Samson, the famous voice in defence of the APC party, down, especially by the former President Ernest Koroma, who was in Makeni when Samson was assassinated. Late Samson was not even among the protesters that August. But because of his outspoken nature against Bio’s tyranny and corruption, he was singled out and killed in broad daylight. Many other innocent citizens were killed unlawfully in Freetown and around the country.

The eloquent Evangelist Samson, RIP, left a young child, Samson Jr and his widow, Madam Isha Dumbuya. The other prominent APC media comrade murdered in August 2022 was Mr Wilson Kay. Those four days in that bloody August left scars in the minds of so many families.

Hundreds of innocent people were butchered to death, and hundreds more who were not even part of the August protests were detained. Maada Bio’s Deputy Internal Affairs Minister and Chief Assassin, Lahai Lawrence Leema, was seen moving from house to house, removing youths and shooting them at point-blank range in front of their parents. May the gentle souls of Samson and others who perished under Bio’s misrule rest in peace.
