Press Statement for Immediate Release – 15/07/2025

Progressives Announce Legal Action Against Sierra Leone Electoral Commission at ECOWAS Court

The Progressive Movement has formally announced its intention to initiate legal proceedings against the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) at the ECOWAS Court of Justice. This decisive move comes in response to widespread public concern over the credibility and transparency of the 2023 presidential and general elections. Two years after the elections, the ECSL has yet to release disaggregated polling station results—a failure that undermines democratic accountability and violates the public’s constitutional right to electoral transparency.

“The refusal to publish the complete results is not just a bureaucratic failure – it is a deliberate act of electoral injustice,” said Mr. Wadi Williams, Chairman and Executive Director of The Progressives. “It erodes trust in our democratic institutions and betrays the will of the Sierra Leonean people.”

A recent national survey conducted by the Institute of Community Progress and Community Progress (UK) Limited reveals that only 7% of Sierra Leoneans believe the country is on the right path. This stark figure underscores the profound disillusionment afflicting the nation. Considering this crisis, the Progressives are demanding:

– The immediate release of all polling station results

– An internationally supervised forensic audit of the 2023 elections

– Comprehensive reform of electoral institutions

– A Progressive-led civic campaign to restore legitimacy

– A non-partisan national dialogue on electoral justice (Photo: ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja).

The Progressives warn that preparing for the 2028 elections without resolving the legitimacy crisis of 2023 would be politically reckless and potentially destabilising. For media inquiries and further information, please contact:

ECOWAS Summit Update: Cocaine Bio is Scared of Handing the ECOWAS Chair to Senegal President Faye; Bio Prefers Anglophone to Francophone Successor!

The illegal Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio, who publicly stole the June 24, 2023 general and presidential elections, is a confused man today. Cocaine King Maada Bio is not only disoriented and jittery at this point when ECOWAS commissioners are in Freetown for the 69th summit, but Bio’s SLPP regime is entirely on the brink of causing more confusion within the ECOWAS commission. The illegitimate Sierra Leone President Bio is shamefully dragging his feet over the handing over of the ECOWAS chairmanship to the rightful individual, in the person of Senegalese President Bassirou Faye, who should have got it since last year when Bio bribed to get it. Diplomatic sources have hinted that Maada Bio, the current ECOWAS chairman who dubiously secured the position last year by bribing Nigerian President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, is not planning to transfer the ECOWAS chair to President Faye. ECOWAS leaders are expected in Freetown on July 19, 2026.

EBK’s Fake Freedom Won’t Distract EJ Win; His Arrest for Betraying Democracy Looms; Tinubu Happy to See EBK’s Back; Hope He Returns Sooner to Face Citizens

The fake freedom suspiciously arranged for Ernest Bai Koroma EBK is not only a fruitless distraction, but EBK’s immediate return will suit 2023 voters. It is a massive trump card indeed, especially for electoral justice campaigners who will eventually see judicial revenge for those who undermine the June 24, 2023, general and presidential elections. EBK is obviously the first accused and chief architect of selling the 2023 votes to his cocaine paymaster, Julius Maada Bio. That is why the dubious freedom dished out to cruel EBK by the electoral commander-in-thief Julius Maada Bio is wholeheartedly welcomed by electoral justice EJ fighters whose main ambition is to restore democracy and to put on trial the betrayers of the people’s mandate. At first glance, it is clear that EBK’s recent freedom, granted by the corrupt SLPP and APC parliamentarians, is a high-class trap for him. The dramatic overturning of the ridiculous treason charge against EBK in parliament, rather than in the High Court, is a monumental blunder, deception and distraction.
