The frequent complaints against Bryan Hunt have come from all angles in Sierra Leone. From his colleagues in the diplomatic circle to ordinary Sierra Leoneans, the State Department has received so many complaints of unprofessional conduct against Hunt.

Ambassador Hunt’s surreptitious engagement with the treacherous Bio presidency had infuriated so many people. Misconduct ranging from having a secret mining business in the north of the country, accrued through the bribery of Bio, to other personal blackmail videos, etc., secretly recorded by the Bio regime, has left Hunt in an embarrassing situation. Sources say the Bio presidency was using the naked video recording of the big US envoy to blackmail him into doing things contrary to the dictates of professional US diplomats. No wonder Hunt was often seen making controversial statements that caused tension in the country.

The SLPP blackmail machine had worked very well for Maada Bio, as Hunt’s hands were tied and had no option but to comply with the orders of the Bio regime, apparently to prolong the stay of Maada Bio at State House illegally.

Over two weeks ago, Hunt was recalled to the US regarding the numerous complaints, and it was clear he would not survive the diplomatic guillotine. Before Hunt left, his colleagues in Freetown had lost confidence in him, and he was often left out of diplomatic meetings because there was no trust. Bryan Hunt’s sacking is fantastic news for the people of Sierra Leone, who are fed up with Hunt’s traitorous role in undermining electoral justice in favour of his paymaster, Maada Bio, the illegal President who publicly stole the June 24, 2023, elections from the real winner Dr Samura Kamara.

However, in a brief press statement yesterday, Hunt confirmed his resignation from the ambassadorial job for family reasons. But Hunt did not say he was sacked. He instead said that because of his sick father, he had to tender his resignation to care for his ailing father. That was a lie.

Sources have confirmed that the former US ambassador to Sierra Leone, David Hunt, has officially resigned. His letter of resignation was submitted to President Donald Trump, and Hunt will not return to Freetown. The US Embassy in Freetown is now being operated under the leadership of Chargé d’affaires Yancey.
