It was shocking for the electoral justice colleagues on the mobilisation and sensitisation campaigns, who could not believe what had happened to Mr Abdul Kamara. The snake bite happened in Komrabai Matukuh Town as he went to his farm to get some things for the visitors. Paddle was bitten by a snake, and he died one hour later.

Eyewitnesses say Mr Abdul Kamara, popularly known as Paddle, went to collect some stuff and also to inform the people in the vicinity to come and join the electoral justice meeting in Komrabai Matukuh Town, where some top members of the Council of APC Media Bloggers Home and Diaspora CAMB were present to sensitise the people about the success of electoral justice and the imminent swearing-in of the President-Elect Dr Samura Kamara.

Paddle is reported to have yelled, “Snake had bitten me,” and one hour later, he was dead despite frantic efforts by those present to use local herbs and salt to cure him. Media activist Media Two, also a student nurse, did CPR and first aid on Paddle. His wounded leg was tied tight to prevent the poison from spreading. She even gave him salty water to drink, but Paddle never vomited. Media Two saw the signs of death and told her media colleagues.

Unfortunately, Mr Abdul Kamara passed away in front of the media team. It was shocking to face such a sad experience. It is still unclear whether the viper was an ordinary snake or a witch snake sent purposely to kill the popular youth leader. Wise observers say Paddle’s death is not ordinary. He was killed because he had so much power in the two villages he controlled as headman and youth leader. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

The late Mr Abdul Kamara was a diehard supporter of electoral justice and a respected headman. Late Paddle is the uncle of CAMB Deputy Chairman Mr Pendragon, who is still in Komrabai Makutuh Town, in the northwest region of Sierra Leone, for the funeral arrangements. Late Paddle was very influential in the villages. That could have sparked jealousy among his people.

Paddle reportedly had a blackout when the snake bit him, according to those present. The sad incident forced the Electoral Justice campaign to be immediately stopped in Mile 91 out of respect for the dead APC comrade Paddle. The village people were very happy with CAMB for cancelling the campaign in respect of their dead leader. CAMB members returned to Freetown and other areas as a result.

The villages in the area were ready to convene at the meeting to hear the good news about the electoral justice success from CAMB officials, but it ended in sad news following the sudden death of the Village Head, Mr Abdul Kamara, alias Paddle.

The sensitisation and mobilisation of the Electoral Justice campaigns have gained momentum in recent times in Kambia, Lungi, and Kenema, and it was the turn of Mile 91 on Sunday, August 17, 2025, when the pathetic news of the snake bite occurred, leading to the sudden death of Paddle.

The late Mr Abdul Kamara was also the president of the mosque in Komrabai Matukuh Town. According to Pendragon, the Deputy Chairman of the Council of APC Media CAMB, the late Paddle is survived by two wives and five children. May his soul rest in peace. Paddle died in the line of duty to defend electoral justice. RIP.
