Ladies@Work Group Eyes School Project in Lungi for 200 Pupils; SOS Appeal to Good Samaritans to Donate in Cash or in Kind
Quick Summary
The Ladies@Work charity has proven again that it is a real charitable group with its primary objective of helping the less privileged at the top of its agenda.
In the packed CHAK 89 Hall in Mitcham, South East London, on Saturday night, the Ladies@Work organisers laid out the impressive project for the construction of the school in Sierra Leone. The proposed school project will consist of four classrooms. (Photo: Ladies@Work CEO Mariatu Sesay and its godmother Zainab Sheriff Bangura, right).
Each classroom will comprise 50 pupils, totalling 200 school children. The Ladies@Work also disclosed that, with a modern toilet, the school will offer different disciplines to give school children diverse opportunities in life to pursue in their studies.
Another important aspect of the proposed school in Lungi, according to the gallant Ladies@Work is the admission of pregnant girls to the school to break the taboo normally associated with teenage pregnancy. “It is not cheap to achieve this goal, i.e. to build from the ground and top floors of the school. We need donations in cash and kind from everyone,” the SOS appeal was kindly made during the Fundraising Dinner & Dance on May 2nd by the CEO, Mariatu Sesay, and others.
The Ladies@Work Fundraising on Saturday, May 2nd, revealed many positive angles, ranging from humanitarian policies to assist the less privileged people in the UK and in Sierra Leone in particular, to showcasing unity, vision, and talents in the musical entertainment, a class act. Not to mention the delicious food and companions.
At the top of the list that Saturday night was the musical performance of the brilliant artist Isha Cee. With CEO Mariatu Sesay and Mr Collins Archie-Pearce singing with her separately, singer Isha Cee thrilled the audience, who were left in awe and excitement. The audience was captivated by the excellent performance of Isha Cee, whose singing and dancing gyrations matched her fascinating black hot pants attire. Adoration and admiration everywhere. The gorgeous Isha Cee is clearly that of an international star.
To crown the historic Fundraising Dinner & Dance night, the Ladies@Work stood solidly behind its charitable objectives by revealing the proposed construction of the school building in Lungi. The school is expected to accommodate 200 pupils.
It was confirmed on Saturday that the school will have four classrooms, each accommodating 50 pupils. But it takes a lot of money to erect the edifice. That was why the godmother, Madam Zainab Sheriff Bangura, took the stage to appeal for donations. (Photos: Abu Shaw posed with godmother Zainab Sheriff. The SOS appeal is still going on, and good Samaritans who want to tip in cash or kind should contact the CEO, Mariatu Sesay, or any other top officials of Ladies@Work charity. The names of the officials include Chair Lady Kadija Diamond Koroma, MC godfather, Collins Archie-Pearce.
Besides the hardworking CEO Mariatu Sesay, famous entertainer Isha Cee and godmother Zainab Sheriff Bangura, the other heavyweights in the charity include Chairlady Diamond Khadijah Koroma; Organising Secretary, Adamsay Samura and Secretary General Mrs Juliet Archie-Pearce, the Financial Secretary Madam Becky Kamara.
The godmother of Ladies@Work, Zainab Sheriff, is a special lady. She is a nice woman, noticed by Editor Abu Shaw’s first contact with her. It was an opportunity to iron out the differences, and she proved to be the forgiving type. Overall, it was a fantastic night, even though the editor was not feeling well. Many organisations were represented at the fundraising over the weekend. Fitting recognition and appreciation were dished out to various individuals and groups. Those present were members from Ta Da Themneh, SLAM, and FOMASA, etc. Ta Da’s boss, Mr Abu Black, was there.
SLAM Director General Dr Venod Fuller and SLAM colleagues Dr Mohamed Sesay, Zainab O, aka African Queen, graced the occasion. FOMASA’s chair, Mr Umaru Kabia, was present. Other prominent persons were present at the historic event. Ladies@Work is a non-political organisation, with pure charitable ideals as its focus.
