Electoral Justice Boosts: Mahama Left on Ghana Air Force Yesterday; Algeria President Still in Freetown; Bio Playing the Fool!
Quick Summary
The last 48 hours have been hectic politically and diplomatically for Sierra Leone as the suffering citizens yearn and pray for democracy and constitutional rule.
This is due to the presence of the Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama and the Algerian President Abdelmadjib Tebboune in Freetown. The international community sent them to hold talks with the incumbent and illegal President Julius Maada Bio. (Photo: Ghana Air Force).
Presidents Mahama and Tebboune arrived on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the Lungi International Airport primarily to facilitate the peaceful transfer of power to the legitimate victor of the June 24, 2023, multi-tier polls Dr Samura Kamara. Tebboune’s flight is still at Lungi. (Photo: President Mahama and Bio. And President-Elect Dr Samura Kamara, right).

Yesterday, the Ghana Air Force flight landed at Lungi Airport in the afternoon, according to aviation sources. It was the same military flight that arrived from Ghana that took President Mahama out of Sierra Leone yesterday evening to Accra after delivering his mission message to Maada Bio.
Since Tuesday, the two African leaders have held intensive, closed-door meetings with Bio to talk sense into him and to negotiate why peace is necessary in the democratic process. The transfer of power agreed by all the signatories, including Bio, is not negotiable. (Photo: Algerian President Tebboune).

Information from the meetings is scant because of the shrouded secrecy of the Bio regime. However, Bio was advised strongly to abide by the laws, as he knows that he did not win the June 24, 2023, elections, as he cannot show any proof to authenticate his victory. Bio has the best chance of getting amnesty if he listens to his best friend, President Mahama.
Meanwhile, the Forum on South-South Triangular Cooperation conference going on in Freetown was snubbed by President Mahama as well as the Algerian President Tebboune whose mission is purely to facilitate the peaceful exit of the unelected President Bio. Light is at the end of the tunnel for the suffering electorates, even though Maada Bio is still playing the fool.
