Maada Bio’s disgraceful interposition in the Guinea-Bissau debacle has caused more harm than good for his tattered image because he is an illegitimate president of Sierra Leone by virtue of the fraudulent June 24, 2023, general and presidential elections, which he stole from the real winner, Dr Samura Kamara, leader of the APC.

Cocaine chief Maada Bio does not have the democratic clout and political credentials to interpose in the Guinea-Bissau military takeover, let alone negotiate for the release of the ousted President Umaro Mokhtar Sissoco Embaló and his fellow government officials.

That was why the Senegalese President Bassirou Diomane Faye immediately interceded to negotiate the freedom of former President Sissoco Embaló and other Guinea-Bissau officials. The answer is simple. Maada Bio lacks the credibility to talk about constitutionality, knowing full well that he robbed the Sierra Leone voters of their democratic mandates in the 2023 elections, thereby preventing the people’s choice, Dr Samura Kamara of the APC party, from taking power peacefully.

This is the public embarrassment and ridicule that Bio is facing. ECOWAS and the global partners are conversant with the undemocratic situation in Sierra Leone, thus the illegitimacy of Bio. Tripartite came, and the implementation stage is now visible, much to the disgrace of Bio and the enemies of electoral justice.

This odd situation has made Maada Bio, the fake ECOWAS Chair, involved in resolving the democratic problems in Guinea-Bissau. Bio is full of a guilty conscience, and this is because he knew that he stole the 2023 elections, thus making him a deplorable Homo sapiens. It has led to the vitality of the 85 Tripartite Recommendations.

The people of Sierra Leone are 100% focused on the implementation process. That is why Bio is worried about his fate. And this worry has distracted him from his bogus ECOWAS chairmanship regarding the Guinea-Bissau upheaval. No wonder the Guinea-Bissau army has warned the useless Bio to back off from the internal politics in Bissau.

General Sworn in as Transitional Leader of Guinea-Bissau as Ousted President Arrived in Senegal

Guinea-Bissau’s military installed Major-General Horta Nta Na Man as transitional president on Thursday, an army statement said, a day after soldiers toppled President Umaro Sissoco Embalo in a swift power grab that followed a disputed election.

It was the ninth coup in West and Central Africa in five years and continued a pattern of instability in Guinea-Bissau, a notorious cocaine transport hub with a long history of military interventions in politics.

The self-styled “High Military Command for the Restoration of Order” announced in a televised statement on Wednesday that they had ousted Embalo. They said the move came in response to a destabilisation plan involving politicians and drug barons, without providing further details.

Wearing a military uniform and flanked by other military officials, Inta-a made his first public appearance as leader at a ceremony broadcast Thursday on state television. He said the coup was necessary to stave off a plot by “narco-traffickers” to “capture Guinean democracy” and said the transition would last one year, beginning immediately.

Before the coup announcement, gunfire rang out in the capital, Bissau, for about an hour on Wednesday near the electoral commission headquarters and presidential palace. Embalo called the French media to say he had been deposed.

‘False Coup Attempt’

Before Inta-a’s presidency was announced, Dias accused Embalo in a video statement of staging a “false coup attempt” to derail the election because he feared he would lose. In a statement to Reuters on Thursday, the coalition backing Dias demanded that authorities be allowed to release results from Sunday’s presidential election.

The coalition also called for the release of former Prime Minister Domingos Simoes Pereira, who was detained on Wednesday, according to relatives and security sources. Security forces used tear gas to break up a small protest outside the building where Pereira is said to be held. They also broke up a gathering near Dias’s home on the outskirts of Bissau, and live rounds were fired, witnesses said. There were no reports of casualties related to the violence on Wednesday or Thursday.

Guinea-Bissau is a small coastal nation situated between Senegal and Guinea that is a notorious transit point for cocaine bound for Europe. Under Embalo’s administration, the cocaine trade appeared to boom.
