Bio Bribes Sierra Leone Motor Drivers Union a Meagre 50 Million Leones to Stop Sept 11 Protest
Quick Summary
Bribery and corruption have become the latest tools being used by the illegitimate Maada Bio regime to thwart the September 11 demonstrations.
In the last few days, SLPP President Maada Bio has been ordering his corrupt government to go all out to give hefty bribes to vital stakeholders primarily to undermine the people’s September 11 protest. Among those who received the SLPP’s paltry bribes starting yesterday included the Sierra Leone Motor Drivers Union. Sierra Leone’s most popular social media activist Adebayor, real name confirmed the pittance last night Mr William Kamara. (Photo: Bio is a confused and desperate man as they numbered his days).
Other unpatriotic stakeholders who have sold their birthrights and have agreed to receive the meagre 50 Million Leones include the Traditional Chiefs, the Kekeh Riders Association, and so on. As the September 11 demonstrations gained momentum, the jittery Bio presidency has been doing everything to bribe corrupt associations so that these associations would convince their members not to protest tomorrow thereby undermining the popular protest.
It is a herculean task however for the SLPP regime to succeed considering the momentum among most Sierra Leoneans who are determined to go ahead with the protest tomorrow because of so many socio-economic problems in the country including the fraudulent June 24, 2023, general and presidential elections which was stolen by the incumbent Maada Bio. Everyone knows that Dr Samura Kamara of the main opposition APC party won the elections.
Following the bribery and corruption spree by the SLPP regime, those who have received the SLPP bribes have already started making press statements to denounce the protest tomorrow in order to satisfy their paymaster Maada Bio. Unfortunately, for them, the slated protest tomorrow will go ahead and any attempt by those who have received bribes to work by plying their trades in the streets on September 11, will face serious repercussions from the patriotic protesters.
Here is one corrupt Union that has succumbed to Maada Bio and his corrupt SLPP regime. The Sierra Leone Motor Drivers Union MD>WU has issued this short press release to denounce tomorrow’s protest: “The Leadership of the Motor Drivers and General Transport Workers Union MD>WU is disclaiming all statements going viral on social media and social gathering spots about a proposed strike or sit-down action by all commercial transport, motor vehicles, drivers on Monday, September 11, 2023. The Union would like to inform the general public that such statements are not coming from us and we are in no way associated with that.
“The union is not an exception to industrial action, as we call it, but in the event of such, the union must have gone through all the due processes as it is supposed to. As for what is said to be on Monday, September 11, 2023, the Union is totally out of it and we are calling on all our members not to toe the line with any other person(s) to undermine the peace and stability of this nation. On this note, we would like to assure the general public that commercial transport will be available at usual places and at stipulated cost without any hindrance to the free movement of people and properties,” the press release concludes.
