Bio Accusing the US of Interfering and Inviting a Coup in Sierra Leone is a Self-Inflict Strategy

Quick Summary

The illegitimate Sierra Leone President Bio has shot himself in the foot after he ill-advisedly cut off the finger (USA) that feeds his SLPP regime.

Bio’s Offensive Strategy: A Replica of Trump’s

By Basita Michael

In a keynote speech at the American University School of International Service in Washington, DC, President Julius Maada Bio lashed out at the US government, accusing it of pressuring him to interfere in the counting process of the June elections and inviting a coup. Bio said that the Election Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) had completed all its calculations and collations, but the US government had asked him to stop the Commission from calling the result. (Photo: Bio during the interview).

“They are an independent, semiautonomous body,” Bio said of the ECSL. “I declined, and I said I have never called this institution, I am not going to call them now. When the United States casts doubt on the credibility (of the election), you are calling for a coup,” Bio said. Given the extenuating circumstances facing Sierra Leone, one would have expected Bio’s speech to be diplomatic and conciliatory. Instead, he turned the tables on the US government right in their face, on American soil.

Whether Bio’s allegations against the US government are genuine or false is beside the point. The point is that the Bio administration has taken to attacking the credibility of anyone who attacks the President or his government. This was evident in the suspension of the Auditor General, Lara Taylor Pearce, after her audit report showed mismanagement of funds in the offices of the President and the First Lady. The Bio government’s use of the strategic offensive principle has become its primary weapon against adversaries. As the saying goes, the best defence attacks.

This strategy is not new. It is a replica of the Donald Trump leadership playbook. When attacked, Trump would react with a hostile counterattack, no apologies. He used social media to strengthen and promote his narrative, and his supporters amplified his messages on social media in a bid to promote his narratives. Like Trump, we are also using government institutions to reinforce our narrative. We set up a commission to look into the issues surrounding the 2020 elections, headed by the Vice President.

Likewise, the Judicial and Legal Service Commission was used to suspend the Auditor General pending her current investigation. For the longest time, this strategy of responding to attacks with hostile counterattacks worked for Trump as President, and it still seems to be working for him outside the Oval Office. Whether it will work for President Bio is not so clear, but what is clear is that we learn all of our bad tricks from the far right in the US.

ECOWAS Summit Update: Cocaine Bio is Scared of Handing the ECOWAS Chair to Senegal President Faye; Bio Prefers Anglophone to Francophone Successor!

The illegal Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio, who publicly stole the June 24, 2023 general and presidential elections, is a confused man today. Cocaine King Maada Bio is not only disoriented and jittery at this point when ECOWAS commissioners are in Freetown for the 69th summit, but Bio’s SLPP regime is entirely on the brink of causing more confusion within the ECOWAS commission. The illegitimate Sierra Leone President Bio is shamefully dragging his feet over the handing over of the ECOWAS chairmanship to the rightful individual, in the person of Senegalese President Bassirou Faye, who should have got it since last year when Bio bribed to get it. Diplomatic sources have hinted that Maada Bio, the current ECOWAS chairman who dubiously secured the position last year by bribing Nigerian President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, is not planning to transfer the ECOWAS chair to President Faye. ECOWAS leaders are expected in Freetown on July 19, 2026.

EBK’s Fake Freedom Won’t Distract EJ Win; His Arrest for Betraying Democracy Looms; Tinubu Happy to See EBK’s Back; Hope He Returns Sooner to Face Citizens

The fake freedom suspiciously arranged for Ernest Bai Koroma EBK is not only a fruitless distraction, but EBK’s immediate return will suit 2023 voters. It is a massive trump card indeed, especially for electoral justice campaigners who will eventually see judicial revenge for those who undermine the June 24, 2023, general and presidential elections. EBK is obviously the first accused and chief architect of selling the 2023 votes to his cocaine paymaster, Julius Maada Bio. That is why the dubious freedom dished out to cruel EBK by the electoral commander-in-thief Julius Maada Bio is wholeheartedly welcomed by electoral justice EJ fighters whose main ambition is to restore democracy and to put on trial the betrayers of the people’s mandate. At first glance, it is clear that EBK’s recent freedom, granted by the corrupt SLPP and APC parliamentarians, is a high-class trap for him. The dramatic overturning of the ridiculous treason charge against EBK in parliament, rather than in the High Court, is a monumental blunder, deception and distraction.
