The Results Reconciliation Forms (RRFs) provided to the party showed a decisive victory for Dr. Kamara, with 57.15% of the vote. Yet, when the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) announced Julius Maada Bio of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) as the winner, the APC leadership, under Minkailu Mansaray, failed to stand firm in defense of the people’s mandate.

Instead of rallying the party to challenge the fraudulent results, Mansaray chose to abandon the very voters who entrusted the APC with their hopes for a better future. This betrayal is not just a political misstep; it is an affront to the core ideologies of the APC. The party was founded on the principles of justice, equality, and the empowerment of the people. Yet, under Mansaray’s toxic leadership, these principles have been trampled upon in favour of backroom deals and personal gain.

His decision to betray Dr Samura Kamara and the votes of Sierra Leoneans is a stain on the APC’s legacy and a slap in the face to every citizen who believed in the party’s promise. Mansaray’s actions have had devastating consequences. By failing to stand with Dr Kamara and the people, he has allowed the SLPP and its allies to consolidate power through illegitimate means. The realisation that their party leadership has abandoned them has compounded the suffering of Sierra Leoneans, who braved long lines and threats to cast their votes.

This is not just a failure of leadership; it is a moral failing of the highest order. Dr Samura Kamara, on the other hand, has remained a beacon of hope and resilience. While Mansaray and his cohorts have chosen the path of cowardice and self-preservation, Dr Kamara has continued to fight for the rights of Sierra Leoneans. He has called for the publication of the disaggregated election results, demanded accountability from the ECSL, and urged his supporters to remain peaceful and steadfast in their pursuit of justice. His unwavering commitment to democracy stands in stark contrast to Mansaray’s shameful capitulation.

The people of Sierra Leone deserve better. They deserve leaders who prioritise the nation over personal ambition, who fight for justice rather than compromise it for convenience. Minkailu Mansaray’s betrayal is a reminder of the dangers of placing power in the hands of those who lack the courage and integrity to wield it responsibly. His actions have not only weakened the APC but have also undermined the democratic aspirations of an entire nation.

To the members of the APC and the people of Sierra Leone, the message is clear: the time for accountability is now. Minkailu Mansaray’s toxic leadership must be challenged, and the party must return to its roots as a champion of the people. Dr Samura Kamara’s fight for justice and democracy must be supported, not undermined. The future of Sierra Leone depends on it.
