The Elephants of Ivory Coast are African Champions, Deservedly So, After Beating Nigeria 2-1 Last Night

Quick Summary

AFCON 2023 is over with the host Ivory Coast drubbing Nigeria’s Super Eagles 2-1. What a remarkable end to a tournament dripping in drama in Abidjan.

The night has only just started in Abidjan after the host beat Nigeria. The Bronze medal was collected by South Africa after beating DR Congo. Sinhealer: Said it a few times on here, once Ivory Coast got out the group they would win it and the Hollywood film would follow! So much drama on the way as well, penalty shootout wins, last-minute equaliser and then winners in ET, all that after sacking a manager for being terrible in the group. Then win it from coming from behind. That film is definitely coming! (Photo: Ivorian President Alassane with the team last night).

Ecstatic scenes as Max Gradel takes hold of the trophy in front of his jubilant teammates. The celebrations are well and truly under way in Abidjan. And here come the newly crowned champions of Africa. Smiles, hugs and kisses to the cameras as they receive their winners’ medals to a huge noise inside the ground. Credit to the fans of Nigeria. They’ve stayed behind to applaud their team and are dancing in the stand. Not to be for the Super Eagles this time. But they will be back.

MrJones: What a remarkable story. From cancer battle (and the threat of having your career ended) to champion. Finally…Nigeria’s players are up receiving their runners-up medals. They all look thoroughly fed-up. (Photo: Ivoery scorer Haller kissed the head of star player Adingra. And Nigeria in second place).

ChillyYorkshire: A fantastic tournament, some great matches, big upsets, quality goals. And the refereeing has been superb, including the use of VAR – I don’t remember a single VAR decision that took long to make, nor incorrect. The Premier League refs could learn a lot from watching this tournament.

Oncha: Ivory Coast have just shown that having all these high profile managers is not what national teams need for successful campaign. They only need a guy who understands both football and his players. Emerse Fae may just have changed the face of national team coaching.

A flag is handed over to a representative from Morocco as the north Africa country will host Afcon in 2025. Ivory Coast’s president has joined the team on the pitch. They’re all dancing and celebrating together. This is a huge moment for the country. Fifa president Gianni Infantino is now on the pitch. We might have a trophy lift soon.

Milanfan: Simply sensational Côte d’Ivoire. Well done to the Elephants beating the Super Eagles in an entertaining final. The fans & people from Côte d’Ivoire are simply overwhelmed with their national team being Africa Cup of Nations champions. Bravo. This trophy is for the people of the Ivory Coast. We have had tough times. Hosting this tournament was incredible and the players have realised how important this was for the country. The people of Ivory Coast love their football and deserve this cup.

Nedum Onuoha – Former Manchester City defender on BBC Three – A special moment for Sebastien Haller. So many people have a cancer diagnosis and it affects their lives. He had so much support and his story will give people in his position in life belief. We will be talking about his story for years.

UN Appearance Means Zero; The Bios’ Illegality Remains at the UN; Brutes Like Gaddafi Spoke at the UN; Next Minute He was Killed; Sierra Leoneans, Don’t Worry

The United Nations is designed to always allow every Jack and Jill in its midst; dictators, tyrants, despots, killers, evil forces, often attend, but their hatred & illegitimacy still remain. Bloodthirsty and illegal President Julius Maada Bio and his mob-justice wife, Fatima Jabbe Bio, are classic examples of dictators known to member states of the United Nations and the world. But as the UN never bans tyrants, the Bios can still appear, but it makes no difference at all. Honest history has taught us one salient fact about attendees at the United Nations General Assembly. Not everyone who attends or addresses the UN General Assembly summit is loved or recognised as legitimate, democratic or a decent human being. Despite the immense freedom to attend the UN, many world leaders are reluctant to appear at the UN summit in New York for security reasons, mainly. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda, President Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong-Un of North Korea are examples.

Marathon Race Ends Soon: New ECOWAS President General Diop from Senegal Takes Over from Gambian Traitor Touray; Real Work Began Yesterday

The real work of the newly refreshed Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS has commenced following the official handing over yesterday in Abuja. It was a milestone for West Africans and the world yesterday to witness the handover of power from the Gambian traitor, Dr Omar Alieu Touray, to General Birame Diop at the new ECOWAS Commission Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria. The Commission held the formal welcome and send-off ceremony for incoming and outgoing statutory appointees and Heads of ECOWAS Institutions, following the completion of the former leadership’s four-year tenure. It was during the historic event that General Birame DIOP of Senegal officially assumed office as the new President of the ECOWAS Commission, amid applause, succeeding Dr Omar Alieu Touray of The Gambia. Since President Bassirou Faye of Senegal succeeded the useless, unfit, and illegal Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio as ECOWAS chair on July 19, 2026, in Lungi, Sierra Leone, very little has been done to move the rejuvenated ECOWAS forward.

The Truth Media, what a fine nomenclature, but the presenter Mr Amadu Lamarana Bah recently made the Truth Media less true. The irony is astronomically disgraceful.
