ECOWAS Pain for Lungi House Owners: Bio’s Evil SLPP Regime Demolishes Houses to Construct the $124M ECOWAS Centre with No Compensation
Quick Summary
Sierra Leoneans are appalled at the brutality of Julius Maada Bio’s regime unleashed on the poor people of Lungi in order to impress ECOWAS.
The residents of Lungi, in particular, and the suffering people of Sierra Leone in general, are visibly angry over the violent nature of Maada Bio’s illegal regime against innocent citizens whose houses have been demolished. SLPP brutes did not compensate the homeowners despite allegedly spending an unbelievable $124 million to erect the ECOWAS centre. (Photo: ECOWAS Conference Centre in Lungi).
All centres on the ongoing 69th summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), slated to be convened in Freetown and Lungi, where a new conference centre is still under construction near the Lungi International Airport to host ECOWAS guests. So many lands belonging to innocent citizens have been seized by force.
Since Lungi residents welcome the erection of the so-called Conference Centre in their environs, comprising presidential villas, etc., they absolutely criticise the negative manner in which they have been maltreated by the senseless and brutal SLPP regime of Maada Bio.
The pain affecting the Lungi residents, especially those whose houses have been senselessly demolished, is indescribable and unbearable. The Lungi people are particularly incensed and angry that the Bio regime did not treat them fairly. (Photo: Lungi residents did not get compensation for their demolished houses).

“We are totally unhappy and let down by this SLPP regime that does not care for its people, especially for us northwesterners who have been molested, maligned, arrested, and killed in so many ways. Now, our houses are demolished, as well as our lands have been seized,” a Lungi resident summed up the mood.
Port Loko District, where Lungi is situated, has not been treated fairly over the years by the violent-oriented SLPP regime. Sadly, the very people who are supposed to protect them are conniving with the illegal SLPP president, Maada Bio, to unleash more mayhem on them.
Leading the onslaught is the disgraceful APC leader in Parliament, the dishonourable Abdul Kargbo, an origin of Lungi who continues to stab his own people in the back ostensibly to satisfy his cocaine paymaster, Maada Bio of the SLPP party.
Since Maada Bio came to power by dubious means on April 4, 2018, the people of the northwest have suffered tremendously at the hands of the SLPP regime, a party that is considered to emanate from the southeast but hates the people from the northwest. (Photos: Bio to host ECOWAS).

Today, the demolition of houses belonging to ordinary citizens, poor Lungi citizens who have worked hard over the years to build their houses, is the greatest blow unleashed on the people of Lungi, and the pain has spread into Sierra Leone communities worldwide.
What makes the Lungi demolition even more painful is the fact that the Bio regime did not compensate the owners of the demolished houses at all. The illegal SLPP regime uses power and force to destroy the houses, much to the anger of so many people.
It is ironic that ECOWAS leaders, the most useless regional Heads of State, are to meet in Freetown and Lungi for their 69th summit. The Lungi people have nowhere to complain as Maada Bio fights for his life, totally oblivious of the feelings of the house owners in Lungi.
