UN Security Council Hears the Cries of 2023 Voters by Prioritising Constitutional Restoration Ahead of Reforms; Welcome News Indeed
Quick Summary
The United Nations Security Council, the highest decision-making body in world politics, has spoken and made its position crystal clear on Sierra Leone.
Encouragingly, the cries from the disgruntled people of Sierra Leone, whose priceless votes in the June 24, 2023, elections were cruelly stolen by the SLPP regime of Julius Maada Bio, have been heard loudly and clearly by the UN body. (Photo: Mr Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary-General).
And thankfully, the UN Security Council has reacted positively, making its position on Sierra Leone succinct and highlighting that it will prioritise the restoration of constitutional order in Sierra Leone first, ahead of electoral reforms, which come later.
This major development in New York, the headquarters of the UN Security Council, came at the right time when concerns continue to be raised on the implementation issues of which comes first and which comes second between restoring democracy and electoral reforms. Now, the UN has made it abundantly clear that, following the 2023 election results and evidence in their possession, they will prioritise the implementation of the constitutional order ahead of implementing electoral reforms.
This UN position is a stark contrast to Maada Bio’s 2028 agenda, which does not augur well for the supporters of 2028, including the traitorous APC leadership and its entirety, who are solidly behind the criminal SLPP regime of Maada Bio.
However, it is fantastic news for 2023 electoral justice fighters, unlike the 2028 campaigners, who are clearly enemies of democracy. The citizens are now satisfactorily delighted because the horse will now be in front of the cart, not the other way around.

The Security Council is very concerned about the circumstances of Sierra Leone’s 2023 elections, which it still considers unacceptable and went further to suggest that the impasse must be resolved to reflect the mandate which elected Dr Samura Kamara.
The APC leader, Dr Samura Kamara, netted a landslide victory with 57.15% of the votes cast from the 71% of RRFs presented to the Tripartite Investigators, while Maada Bio failed to present any results to authenticate his presidency.
Today, the UN has given the people of Sierra Leone greater optimism by prioritising constitutional order over electoral reforms. This is like putting the horse before the cart. Electoral justice has won the battle. It is just a matter of time now.
