Today at the UN Security Council in New York, the world body shall discuss the UN Tripartite Report on Sierra Leone as citizens wait for Electoral Justice.
All eyes and ears will be directed towards New York today. It will be make or break for democracy in Sierra Leone as the people impatiently wait for Electoral Justice. The UN Tripartite Report was prepared and compiled and presented to the United Nations Security Council by the UN Co-Chair on the Tripartite Investigations Committee in Sierra Leone Madam Seraphine Wakana. Madam Wakana, who is also the UN Resident Representative to Sierra Leone, represented the development partners as Co-Chair on the Tripartite Committee. According to the Communique, the Final Recommendations will be implementable and actionable. (Photo: UN Headquarters in New York).
The other two parties on the Committee i.e. SLPP and APC were Co-Chaired by Dr Emmanuel Gaima and Dr Keifala Marah, respectively. Wakana’s Report to the UN was endorsed by the Head of the Tripartite Secretariat retired Australian Judge Kate Sullivan. Judge Kate’s own Final Report is almost similar to Wakana’s Report which clearly mentioned that the incumbent Julius Maada Bio did not win the June 24, 2023 elections. It added that the APC leader Dr Samura Kamara won the June elections. According to the Communique, the Final Recommendations will be implementable and actionable. Confirmed reports say this information had already been transmitted to the electoral thief Maada Bio. It is the same Report that will be discussed at the UN Security Council today. There is definitely an air of optimism blowing at the UN today for the majority of suffering Sierra Leoneans whose priceless votes were publicly stolen by Maada Bio in connivance with the crook Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone ECSL Chairman Mohamed Kenenwui Konneh. According to the Communique, the Final Recommendations will be implementable and actionable. At the end of the Tripartite Committee investigations on June 19, 2024, the three parties compiled their individual reports on the findings. The SLPP regime concentrated all their energies on the Electoral Reforms, while the APC party concentrated their efforts on both the Electoral Reforms and the Electoral Justice, the most important issue. Maada Bio does not want Electoral Justice to be discussed then and even today. That is why the SLPP agents continue to apply every trick to ignore Electoral Justice before, during and after the Tripartite Committee investigations that lasted for six months. According to the Communique, the Final Recommendations will be implementable and actionable.
But the APC party, knowing full well that Resolution Three on the Communique (Electoral fraud) is the key to Tripartite Committee investigations, touched on it full time. And luckily, the external stakeholders are equally concentrating on Electoral Justice. Hopefully, the United Nations Security Council shall discuss today the recommendations made by Seraphine Wakana. Electoral Justice is the key that will unlock the peace, unity, freedom and progress that the country needs. And Sierra Leoneans are eagerly waiting for their votes to be restored. According to the Communique, the Final Recommendations will be implementable and actionable. Return to Constitutional rule is the primary reason for the UN Security Council’s discussion. Democracy and Security are the key points to be discussed at the UN today. Many African nations, especially in the West African sub-region including Sierra Leone will be on the agenda. Mali, Bukina Faso and Niger will be prominent as well. Security Council is scheduled to hold a briefing on UNOWAS in an open session. It is expected to start at 10am. Later, there will be close door consultations to deliberate on the UN Tripartite Report on Sierra Leone. According to the Communique, the Final Recommendations will be implementable and actionable.
ECOWAS on the Tripartite Committee Recommendations and the Activation of Standby Force ECOMOG
By Special Reporters
Meanwhile, the Defence Chiefs of ECOWAS recently met at the ECOWAS Headquarters in Abuja to discuss the activation of the sub-regional standby force ECOMOG including member states led by Nigeria on the budget of 2.6 US billion annually. The restoration of democracy in Sierra Leone is an unfinished business. The Sixty-Fifth (65th) Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government continues to pinpoint the challenges and difficulties our nation is facing around democracy. The Authority commends the Government and the All Peoples Congress (APC) for the signing of the “Agreement for National Unity” and urges them to commit to implementing it within the stipulated timeframe and persevere in resolving all differences within the agreements framework. The Authority further urges all stakeholders to commit to the implementation of the Report of the Tripartite Committee and refrain from resorting to violent means to avoid escalating the already tense political situation in the country. It directs the ECOWAS Commission to accompany the Government and people of Sierra Leone in the implementation of the “Agreement for National Unity” and the recommendations of the Tripartite Committee’s Report. It calls on development partners to continue supporting the Government and people of Sierra Leone in consolidating democracy, peace, and socio-economic development. On the deployment of the ECOWAS Stabilisation Mission in Sierra Leone, the Authority welcomes the preparation made so far and directs the Commission and the Committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff to expedite the agreements.
With Troops Contributing Countries TCC towards the deployment of the Mission. Democracy will fight back! God bless Dr Samura Kamara – Dreamer APC. “Persevere in resolving all differences within the agreement’s framework,” according to the Final 65th ECOWAS Communique. On the planned deployment of the ECOWAS Stabilisation Mission in Sierra Leone, the Authority welcomes the preparations made so far and directs the Commission and the Committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff to expedite the arrangements with Troop-Contributing Countries (TCC) towards the deployment of the Mission.
