I made recently this striking statement by the APC leader and presidential candidate for the June 24, 2023, general and presidential elections Dr Samura Kamara. The optimism shown by the APC leader was too succinct, giving more hope to the doubting Thomases. He added that a few unscrupulous people in this modern era can never undermine the integrity and credibility of Sierra Leone. As Sierra Leoneans wait for the six months deadline given by the APC party to expire, there are promising signs that positive things will happen halfway through the deadline for the restoration of democracy.

Dr Samura Kamara, the obvious winner of the June 24 elections which Julius Maada Bio stole with the aid of Mr Mohamed Kenewui Konneh the crook chair of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone ECSL, had this to say: “It is crucial that the international community stands alongside the people of Sierra Leone in this unequivocal position, firmly rejecting any results that do not reflect the genuine will of the voters. The consequences of allowing electoral manipulation to go unchecked before, during, and after the vote would be detrimental to the democratic aspirations and stability of our beloved nation and the sub-region.”

Presently, the SLPP regime of Maada Bio is totally broke monetary-wise following the financial strangulations from international partners who are unhappy with the ECSL and the Bio presidency for the lack of transparency and accountability during the June 24 elections. The European Union, United Nations, United States, United Kingdom, ECOWAS. African Union, Carter Centre, National Elections Watch NEW, etc, have all condemned the outcome of the results released by the ECSL. Finances meant for the SLPP regime from World Bank, the EU, the UN, the UK, and the Millennium Challenge Corporation MCC have all been withheld until democracy is restored i.e. the June 24 results District by District are released as demanded by global partners and the APC party. Despite the immense pressure mounting on the thieving SLPP administration, Maada Bio and his gang of electoral thieves are pretending that all is bright and beautiful when in actual fact, things are falling apart within and without. The Bio presidency is doing everything to fool their people in the southeast but the latest developments regarding the 98.1 FM radio interview by the outgone US Ambassador David Reimer among others have exposed the Bio deception. And the reports of financial sanctions by the international community on the SLPP regime have further exposed Maada Bio and his regime that their days at State House are numbered. It is just a matter of time before Dr Samura Kamara is sworn in.

All Meaningful Sierra Leoneans and APC MPs Must Keep Standing for Democracy

All meaningful Sierra Leoneans and APC parliamentarians must keep standing for democracy and don’t be distracted, the APC leader reiterated. This striking statement by Dr Samura Kamara APC’s Members of Parliament and the leadership, keep continuing standing for Democracy. No matter what you think, you admit that the steps taken by the leadership in response to the concocted election results announced by ECSL are commendable. Preceding the elections, many red flags were raised against ECSL; And the leadership of the party made it very clear about the integrity and credibility of ECSL in handling the June 24th, 2023 General Elections.

For the first time, we have seen massive conglomerates amounts of meaningful Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora and home-based including APC’s Parliamentarians asserting to defend democracy. And make no mistake, their voices have sent a shock wave across the continent and far beyond. At this crucial moment, either the truth or entrenched hate against each other blinds a few Sierra Leoneans; fast forward, they would soon advocate for ECSL to adhere to calls made by national and international partners for transparency and a prosperous nation.  Sierra Leone is the only place, we can call home with our families. A few unscrupulous people in this modern era can never undermine the integrity and credibility of this nation.

As Dr. Kamara rightly said, back then “These elections on 24th June 2023, are therefore not about Samura Kamara per se neither must they be about a second term for President Julius Maada Bio, Paopa. They are about building a better future for Sierra Leone and, who can best secure this.” To all meaningful Sierra Leoneans and APC Parliamentarians, Keep standing for democracy and don’t be distracted.
