National Security is Next Before Transfer of Power: ECOWAS & UNOWAS to Deploy Marines & ECOMISIL to Secure New Gov’t

The peaceful democratic transition of power has moved further into becoming a reality amid the likelihood of the deployment of ECOMISIL.
There is also a high possibility that the US Marines secretly stationed in Sierra Leone and Ghana may be deployed to join forces with ECOMISIL to beef up the national security situation in Sierra Leone before the peaceful transition of power.
Expectations are absolutely very high in Sierra Leone and in the West Africa subregion for eventual transfer of power to the legitimate President-Elect in Sierra Leone, the people’s choice, in the person of Dr Samura Kamara, leader of the APC party.
And the latest drawback is the security issues in the country. The leaders of the Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS and the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel UNOWAS know there are security snags at the moment. (Photo: UNOWAS chief Leonardo Santos Simao).

They are working to resolve the security drawbacks. Everything is in place so far – besides the national security issues – for the transition to take place as global partners are sorting out the safety of every Sierra Leonean before the transfer of power takes place.
Already, there are serious concerns about the conduct of the Sierra Leone Army and the police who are believed to have compromised their neutrality and professionalism that would have guaranteed the proper security and safety for all citizens.
The unelected President Julius Maada Bio has recently raised the issue of security for his own people after handing over power. The security situation is also of major concern for the new government as they have no faith in the present military and police Kamajors. (Photo: ECOWAS Chairman President Bola Tinubu).

It is no hidden secret that most of the current crops of security personnel in the Sierra Leone army and police have since April 4, 2018 put partisan politics above national issues. Global partners have realised that foreign security forces are the current solutions.
The growing concerns regarding the security situation have given ECOWAS and UNOWAS officials the springboard to enhance the health and safety of all Sierra Leoneans instantly in order to make sure that the transition of power is done peacefully.
Competent sources say the US Marines have been in the country since the US Air Force One landed at Lungi for special missions in West Africa. Also, the ECOWAS soldiers located in neighbouring Liberia shall be deployed with the Marines to improve national security.
