There are reports that more of the Economic Community Monitoring Group ECOMOG soldiers are expected to arrive this week to protect Tripartite outcome.
Competent sources say the first batch of the ECOMOG soldiers are expected to arrive today or tomorrow. Already, a small contingent of the ECOMOG troops is already in the country. Around 27,000 strong military officers from ECOWAS are scheduled to arrive in Sierra Leone in the next couple of weeks to coincide with the release of the much-trumpeted Tripartite Investigations Committee recommendations and even beyond until the country is totally secured for everyone. Sources say the first batch of the 27,000 strong ECOMOG soldiers comprising 9,000 ECOMOG soldiers is expected to land today or tomorrow, to be followed by another 9,000 in the next few weeks and the final batch of 9,000 soldiers will complete the total number expected in Sierra Leone for the stabilisation purposes of the country.
The imminent arrival of the full contingents of the ECOMOG forces, approved by the leaders of the Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS, is a big relief to the suffering people of Sierra Leone who no longer trust the security provided by the failed Bio presidency. And the fact that ECOMOG is prepared to provide genuine security for every Sierra Leonean is a blessing for the country and the entire sub-region.
Tension is mounting in the country following the expected release of the recommendations by the Tripartite Investigators who are mandated to look into the fraudulent June 24, 2023 general and presidential elections which the failed President Maada Bio publicly stole and held on to despite the national and international condemnations. That is the United Nations Security Council is supporting the efforts of ECOWAS to usher peace, stability and democracy in the sub-region.
Should Maada Bio tries to violate the international treaty, he will regret why he stole the June elections in the first place. There is no doubt that the international community would never allow Maada Bio, a violent criminal who does not understand the important of peace and unity in Sierra Leone to continue to rule the people of this nation illegally and unconstitutionally. Tripartite is the last hope for the people of Sierra Leone to enjoy peace, security, progress and democratic rule once again.
