Liberia Elections Have Shamed Maada Bio, Have Shamed ECSL, Have Shamed Samura Critics
Quick Summary
Felicitation to the Liberian government for conducting and overseeing free, fair, credible, transparent, accountable and peaceful elections to the envy of all.
The successful Liberian elections have invariably shamed the illegitimate SLPP government of Sierra Leone and many other vital stakeholders. More congratulations to the National Elections Commission NEC of the Republic of Liberia for conducting, and monitoring the run-off elections on November 14, 2023, freely and fairly. The NEC Chairlady Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah should be commended big time for her patriotism and professionalism in the conduct of the elections and the run-off to the admiration of everyone inside and outside Liberia. (Photo: Sierra Leone’s rightful winner Dr Samura Kamara and Liberia’s President-Elect Joseph Boakai).
Immense thanks and appreciation also go to the incumbent President George Manneh Oppong Weah for showing how democratic elections are conducted credibly, freely, peacefully and transparently to the envy of the West African sub-region, the African continent and the world at large. President Weah has proven beyond all reasonable doubts that there are real democrats in Africa who could conduct general elections freely and fairly and could accept defeat honourably unlike most African dictators like the illegal Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio who stole the June 24, 2023 elections in Sierra Leone.
The Liberia elections saw the main opposition Unity Party UP of the 78-year-old Joseph Boakai, a former vice president, winning the run-off in a narrow victory. The incumbent president and flag bearer of the Coalition for Democratic Change CDC, George Weah, and Joseph Boakai met at the run-off having received the highest votes in the first round. In the first rounds, Mr Weah received 43.83 per cent of votes cast (804,087 votes), while Mr Boakai received 43.44 per cent of votes cast (796,961). It was a tight race in the run-off but the incumbent George Weah, who led in the first rounds, lost gracefully and did not waste time to concede and to congratulate Boakai.
The honourable President Weah has shamed the illegal Sierra Leone tyrant called President Maada Bio who undermined every tenet of democracy by stealing the June 24 elections in Sierra Leone. In broad daylight, Maada Bio connived with the corrupt Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone ECSL Mohamed Kenewui Konneh to rob the people of Sierra Leone of their votes which mandated the main opposition APC party leader Dr Samura Kamara to lead the nation. But Maada Bio stole the people’s mandate thereby preventing the rightful winner from ruling thus plunging the nation into more chaos and increasing the poverty in the country. Shame on the APC traitors and partners-in-crime certain social media activists who have engaged in dubious political machinations to prolong the stay of the tyrant Maada Bio in power! These APC bastards and enemies of the state, all of whom are top APC party officials, are advocating for the 2028 elections which means that they have given up hope on the fraudulent June 24, 2023 elections thereby undermining the leadership of Dr Samura Kamara. Since the June 24 elections were stolen, Maada Bio has never been congratulated or recognised by development partners around the world.
This international snub clearly showed that no one endorsed the illegality of Maada Bio’s SLPP reign. Hopefully, the Tripartite Investigation Committee recently set up to probe the fraudulent June 24 elections will usher in the people’s mandate very soon. And Dr Samura Kamara, the best politician Sierra Leone could present today has got to redeem the nation from the claws of despot Maada Bio by pressing for the restoration of democracy with the full support of the international community. Yet, the APC traitors are using and misusing social media activists and other media outlets to spread misinformation about Dr Samura Kamara, geared towards their ridiculous 2028 agenda hatched by Maada Bio’s thuggish SLPP regime.
The 2028 Bio slaves are calling for Dr Samura Kamara’s head by alluding that his leadership would expire next month and by January 2024, the APC traitors would dethrone Dr Samura Kamara and install their puppets. That’s an impossible story considering the intricacies surrounding the old and the new APC Constitution. For now, Bio has fumbled, and APC is on track for redemption. And Liberia has shown the democratic way to civilisation. For eight years in Liberia, where I started my journalism journey from 1987 to 1995 – I always knew that Liberians are more enlightened than most Sierra Leoneans. The just concluded Liberian elections have justified this purview again. (Photo: Illegal Maada Bio has shamed the nation).

The wave of congratulatory messages to President-Elect Boakai is classic proof. Reuters reports – Incumbent George Weah with all the votes counted has been trailing from the outset. Boakai, 78, a former vice president who lost to Weah in the 2017 poll, had campaigned on rescuing the West African nation from what he calls mismanagement by Weah’s administration, whose first term was marred by allegations of corruption. Boakai led with 50.89% of the vote over Weah’s 49.11%, according to results from 99.6% of polling stations, the country’s elections commission said on Friday. The result marks a stark turnaround from 2017, when global soccer legend Weah, buoyed by a wave of hope, trounced Boakai with 62 per cent of the vote.
Many have since grown disillusioned with the lack of progress: poverty, unemployment, food insecurity and poor electricity supply persist. Boakai, a softly-spoken career politician, was more than 28,000 votes ahead of Weah, according to the latest results. He and Weah emerged neck-and-neck from the first round of voting in October but below the 50% needed to secure an outright victory, which led to Tuesday’s run-off. The National Election Commission NEC announced that the presidential election run-off was slated for 14 November following the inability of any of the 20 candidates to secure more than 50 per cent of votes cast in the first round of the election.
