The Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS and UNOWAS have reiterated their backing for the implementation to its conclusion.
In Abuja, the headquarters of ECOWAS, the Sierra Leone situation was integral in the discussion and yesterday ECOWAS and United Nations Office for West Africa and Sahel UNOWAS unanimously agreed to support all 84 recommendations. The ECOWAS and UNOWAS leaders made this commitment yesterday in Abuja after the four-day meeting from December 11 to 15, 2024, when they concluded that they will support the full implementation of the recommendations of the Peace and National Unity agreement in Sierra Leone.
It was amid this important message from UNOWAS and ECOWAS leaders that information emerged about the exclusion of the SLPP Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, who shockingly represented the unelected and illegal Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio.
It is vital to note from the conclusion of the UNOWAS/ECOWAS Heads of States regarding the Sierra Leone situation that the fighters of electoral justice shall succeed for the benefit of all patriotic citizens in Sierra Leone. (Photo: ECOWAS Chairman Ahmed Bola Tinubu).

From the impression gathered from Abuja yesterday, the June 24, 2023 elections are not concluded until all the outstanding recommendations are done. ECOWAS and UNOWAS have promised to support the implementation of the 84 recommendations to its conclusion.
ECOWAS leaders were seen stopping Maada Bio’s VP Juldeh Jalloh from attending the special session where the final decision for the transfer of power in Sierra Leone and electoral justice was meant to be taken. It is indeed a worrying time for the electoral thief, Maada Bio.
The writing is clearly on the wall for illegal Bio thanks to ECOWAS Commission in Abuja. The first blow to Bio’s reign took place after ECOWAS leaders prevented Juldeh from attending a special session meant for heads of states only. Embarrassing but not surprising to see Juldeh thrown out of the meeting simply because of his status as Vice President. (Photos: Maada and his VP Juldeh Jalloh).

Leonardo Santos Simão, the head of UNOWAS, had this to say: “Efforts to ensure peace, stability and social, economic development in the sub-region. By the way, for example following our joint venture to Freetown in June with Excellency Fatoumatta-Jallow Tambajang, former Vice President of Gambia, UNOWAS and ECOWAS tried a follow-up mission to the country from 14 to 18 October, 2024 in support of the implementation of national unity signed by the government and All Peoples’ Congress on 18 October, 2023.
“This agreement remains on track with all stakeholders committed to addressing outstanding issues, including those recommendations in our reports. I want to commend the commitment of the government of Sierra Leone and the APC and all stakeholders in maintaining the implementation of the agreement. We encourage the continuation of the same spirit until the conclusion of the political process. As ECOWAS celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025 the United Nations stands ready to share its experiences in large institutional reform processes as we continue to reflect internally on how to best position ourselves for the future in the spirit of the pact of the future,” UNOWAS Chief Santos said.
