Bio’s ‘Death Penalty Abolition’ is a Con Game of the Century: Extrajudicial Killings Surpassed 5,000 Citizens Since April 2018

Maada Bio’s ‘Abolition of the Death Penalty’ propaganda is the most ridiculous and deceptive legal concept ever hatched by a Sierra Leone government.
From the embryonic stage of the Maada Bio presidency in 2018, the SLPP regime started its nefarious plans to fool some of the people nationally and internationally with regard to the death penalty in Sierra Leone. It was a major legal propaganda adopted by the Bio presidency to give the impression that the SLPP has come to obey law and order. What an outrageous legal lie! It failed from day one. (Photo: Maada and his new Army Chief Brigadier General Idara Bangura, the killer).
This is because Maada Bio has killed more people under his bluff ‘Death Penalty Abolition’ than when the Death Penalty law was in the Law Books of Sierra Leone. With one of the most deceptive legal machinations by a seating government in Sierra Leone, Maada Bio’s sly regime decided to abrogate the ‘Death Penalty’ by ending up abolishing the deadly law. Democratic nations and institutions hailed Bio as a result. It was all a big Bio lie as it happened only in theory, but never in practice up to this day.
The so-called ‘Abolition of the Death Penalty’ took place during Maada Bio’s first term in office. As a consequence, the SLPP regime received international commendations for the ‘Death Penalty Abolition’ and the glowing tributes were followed by financial and other benefits that poured in big time to augment the Bio’s SLPP government, even though most Sierra Leoneans did not enjoy the massive assistance. Little did some Sierra Leoneans know that Maada Bio’s ‘Death Penalty Abolition’ was a serious legal scam covertly machinated by the corrupt SLPP regime to divert the attention of the people from the barbaric hidden agenda of the Bio’s corrupt administration. The real motive was to use the ‘Death Penalty Abolition’ as a cover to commit atrocious summary executions. That was a classic RUF rebels tactics to fool the people. But it has backfired on Bio.
No wonder these gangs of SLPP officials were the pioneers of the deadly RUF rebels in the 90s. The array of extrajudicial executions carried out by the brutal SLPP security forces against innocent Sierra Leoneans since 2018 are dotted with irrationality and beyond comprehension. In 2020 alone, the ridiculous Bio ‘Death Penalty Abolition’ was violated big time when Presidential Guards raided Pademba Road Prisons and killed over 300 inmates.
In 2020 also, hundreds of innocent citizens were shot or butchered to deaths in Makeni, Lunsar, Mile 91, Tombo, Thonko Limba by violent SLPP police and soldiers, all in the APC party strongholds of the northwest of Sierra Leone. More people were killed in covert operations since 2018. These summary executions of peaceful protesters took place a few months after the so-called ‘Death Penalty’ has been abrogated. In 2022, more innocent deaths occurred after the irate and unprofessional SLPP Kamajor militias in military and police uniforms murdered dozens of peaceful demonstrators in Freetown and around the northwest of the country. Even innocent citizens who never participated in the peaceful protests were slaughtered in their homes. Killing machine Lahai Lawrence Leema, the then Deputy Internal Affairs Minister, took young men and women from their bedrooms and shot them to death.
On August 14, 2022, dodgy soldiers assassinated the popular APC social media blogger Evangelist Samson, the real name Mr Hassan Dumbuya, in broad daylight in Makeni. The armless Evangelist Samson was shot while he was running away from the armed soldiers led by Major Idara Bangura. Samson’s only crime was his fierce determination to expose the vile plans of the violent and corrupt Bio regime in his daily audios.
Today, Bio’s ‘Death Penalty Abolition’ is a laughingstock. The latest victims of assassinations are Captain Aiah Aba Senesie aka Great and Captain TLK Conteh, who were shot in back on Tuesday November 26, 2024 in Waterloo, Freetown. For six and a half years, the people of Sierra Leone have experienced bloody violence by Maada Bio’s brutal regime that often leads to summary executions of innocent citizens. The unelected President Julius Maada Bio loves assassins. Maada Bio has promoted all the SLPP brutes who had murdered innocent Sierra Leoneans. For instance, Abu Abu Koroma, who is the mastermind of the Makeni Killing, is still Resident Minister North. The current Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier General Idara Bangura is behind the death of social media activist Evangelist Samson and many others.
It is no surprise the Flame of Justice has been hoisted at the Special Court and ICC offices in Freetown. Social media activist Gibril Bangura, based in America, put it more clearly: “These calculated acts of violence carry a tribal and regional undertone, which will only serve to heighten tensions and breed resentment across Sierra Leone, especially in the North and Northwest of the country. This reckless behaviour endangers the lives of current and future SLPP politicians.”
