The Presidential Lodge, the official residence of the Sierra Leone President, is now a ghost town for Maada Bio because he is afraid of his own shadow. The pressure is mounting on the beleaguered SLPP regime of Maada Bio, after being ordered to do the right things by restoring democracy and inevitably the people’s mandate. Following the tightening of the noose around the neck of the illegitimate of Bio in Sierra Leone, competent reports say Maada Bio has been told to announce fresh elections within weeks or the inevitable will happen. The ultimatum is simple but penetrative i.e. Bio must announce a date for fresh elections or Dr Samura Kamara would be installed in a neighbouring country as President. There is a strong determination from the international community in Africa, Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States and other western democracies for democracy to take place in Sierra Leone within the shortest possible time. This message has been delivered to Maada Bio personally this week. Confirmed reports say the global partners have informed Bio that the elections must happen within weeks not later than March this year. The ultimatum given to Bio is serious and mindboggling for Maada and his close SLPP associates. But for the majority of Sierra Leoneans who were publicly robbed of their priceless votes during the June 24, 2023 general and presidential elections, the ultimatum is welcome news. It is confirmed that the ultimatum centred around the holding of fresh elections to be announced by Maada Bio himself as instructed by the international community otherwise, the APC flag-bearer Dr Samura Kamara would be installed as President in a small neighbouring country. State House sources have intimated that officials of the high power ECOWAS delegation that arrived in Freetown this week had delivered the thunderbolt message to Maada Bio. Shock was an understatement when Maada Bio was told by ECOWAS to give a date for elections. The delegates made it clear that they (ECOWAS) were requested by the international community mainly the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union to give this startling message to Maada Bio. Bio is consequently between the devil and the deep red sea. Political observers believe the game is up for Maada Bio. It is a matter of when Maada Bio would be ousted and not how, what or where. Maada was strictly told to announce elections within weeks or otherwise Dr Samura Kamara, widely believed to have really won the June 24, 2023 elections which Maada Bio shamefully stole in connivance with the most corrupt Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone ECSL Mohamed Kenewui Konneh. Since the bombshell message was delivered this week, the obstinate and blind Maada Bio has been shuttling around Africa looking for allies who could come to his aid militarily and for security reasons. In Algeria, Maada Bio is reported to have gone to the north-African nation for military assistance to beef up his personal security amid the growing uncertainty of his regime. But Algeria has turned Bio down. Reports say Maada has gone to Angola to look for help. What Maada Bio is failing to realise is that no one fights the international community. The whole world is against Maada Bio for undermining democracy and committing terrible crimes against his own people in Sierra Leone in the last five and half years of SLPP misrule.
