The unelected and illegal Sierra Leone President Maada Bio last night received a high power delegation from Abuja, the political capital of Nigeria.
Reports from Lungi International Airport say the foreign delegates comprising eight officials came directly from Abuja on behalf of the Chair of the Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. (Photo: Lungi Airport).
The usually reliable aviation sources in Freetown say the special flight from Nigeria landed at around 8 pm Sierra Leone time at the Lungi International Airport – which has been renamed the Freetown International Airport – and was immediately ferried to Freetown last night.
Reports say moments before the special jet touched down at Lungi reports intimated that airport workers were in tense mood when news broke out that the special flight had come purposely to take Maada Bio to Nigeria as was reported by this newspaper yesterday.

But as it turned out, the beleaguered President Bio did not travel instead eight delegates from Abuja, whose names could not be revealed, arrived ostensibly sent by the ECOWAS Commission to meet the embattled Maada Bio and other internal stakeholders.
The foreign delegates reportedly departed the airport at approximately 10 pm last night and arrived in Freetown before 11 pm. And as press time, the special flight is still at the Lungi airport waiting for the delegation.
The actual reason or reasons for the delegates’ emergency arrival from Abuja, the ECOWAS head office, could not be ascertained. But, they are in Freetown for a very important reason associated with the peaceful transfer of power. (Photos: Bio and Dr Samura, President-Elect).

Prior to the arrival of the delegation, there was competent information that the illegal President Bio would travel to Nigeria very soon to append his signature on very important documents connected to the democratic transition of power. Bio’s travel is on the agenda.
As things are developing in the electoral justice process, pioneered by the APC leader Dr Samura Kamara, the real winner of the June 24, 2023 elections, and widely supported by the electorates, Sierra Leoneans are hoping and praying for democracy to return instantly.
