Bio’s Continuous Reluctance to Cooperate with the Tripartite Committee is Good News for Democrats and Bad News for Bio
Quick Summary
The Tripartite Investigations Committee is the only solution to rid of Bio’s tyranny. But SLPP regime’s unwillingness to cooperate will be Bio’s quick downfall. But SLPP regime’s unwillingness to cooperate will be Bio’s quick downfall. As Democrats in the United States wish for the timely realisation of constitutional order in Sierra Leone, the last thing the Biden Administration and western democracies want is for anyone to delay the process to prevent the achievement of the restoration of democracy within the time frame. But the illegitimate Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio’s failure to speed up the Tripartite process should not discourage peace loving and democratic Sierra Leoneans an iota. The longer Maada Bio’s SLPP agents in the Tripartite continue to stumble block the Tripartite Investigations Committee, the better and quickest it would be for ushering in democracy in Sierra Leone. There are so many Sierra Leoneans who are unhappy with the slow but sure progress of the Tri-Party probe because of SLPP regime’s reluctance to abide by Resolution 4 of the Tripartite Communique i.e. the release of all political and electoral prisoners and the cancellations of all political cases against opposition politicians. But the Bio presidency is dragging its feet in this sphere.
The main opposition APC has however obeyed all the dictates of the Tri-Party Communique much to the satisfaction of the international community and western democracies that are determined to restore democracy in Sierra Leone within the six-month time frame. It is barely two months remaining. That is why any further procrastination by Maada Bio would be bad news for the Paopa junta regime. Patriotic citizens should be worried only when Maada Bio is doing good things. But when the Bio presidency is misbehaving and undermining the democratic processes like the way his illegal regime is doing today, then every democratic citizen should be happy and hopeful for a quick and positive result.
The SLPP artificial hurdles created intentionally to frustrate the Tripartite probe is a blessing in disguise. The longer the Bio agents go against the Communique, the better for most Sierra Leoneans because these stumbling blocks would quicken the facilitators’ resolve to restore constitutional order in the country. There is no way Maada Bio will succeed because the might of the Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS, the African Union AU, the European Union EU, and the United Nations UN and so on would not relent until the Tripartite Agreement is implemented in full.
Dr Kaifala Marah, the APC party Co-Chair in the Tripartite Investigations Committee recently brought this vital delay tactics issue to the limelight. Dr Marah said the SLPP regime is delaying the implementation of the Tripartite especially for Resolution 4 which has apparently choked Maada Bio in the throat. The Bio junta regime know that they cannot account for the political prisoners named in the APC list presented to the SLPP and the global partners because they have all been summarily executed behind bars. Names like the former Police Superintendent Yaetay, Yaetay, real name Mr Mohamed Turay had been murdered in cold blood by Maada Bio’s killers hours after he was extradited from Liberia.
Meanwhile, the APC traitors who are propping up the 2028 Maada Bio agenda namely the APC Running Mate Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah aka Chericoco; the APC National Chairman Minkailu Mansaray; the APC National Publicity Secretary Sidi Yahya Tunis; the Deputy National Publicity Secretary Mohamed Pope Kamara among others are the main problem makers in the APC party who are shamefully undermining the peoples’ choice Dr Samura Kamara. The APC Grassroots supporters are aware that these useless big men and sell-outs are the traitors within helping Maada Bio’s 2028 agenda to stay in power. But prosperity will tell very soon.
Diplomatic sources have intimated that the recommendations that will come from the Tri-Party Committee–comprising seven officials from the SLPP, seven from the APC and seven from the International Community–will be fully implemented because it is actionable without a shadow of a doubt. “Whether Maada Bio drags his feet or not, the Tripartite is irreversible. The quicker the seven SLPP representatives in the Tripartite Committee cooperate, the better for Maada Bio. We are ready to take action within the time frame to right the wrongs that took place in the June 24, 2023 elections,” the envoy from ECOWAS confided to the Organiser newspaper.
Electoral Reform Committee… Dr Kaifala Marah Highlights Challenges in his Tweet
Co-chair of the Electoral Systems Reforms Committee, Dr Kaifala Marah, leading the All Peoples Congress APC party’s representatives in the Committee, has underscored what he referred to as “continuous challenges” faced with in implementing Resolution 4 of the Communique that deals with the release of detained individuals, discontinuation of politically motivated cases, and support for displaced persons to return. At a press briefing held on Wednesday at the residence of the US Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Dr. Marah said that apart from the initial progress made, establishing the Committee of Moral Guarantors remains an obstacle.
He emphasised his party’s dependence on government cooperation and political will, as well as the support from partners, to address outstanding resolutions, noting how the APC recently presented an action plan for faster and easier coordination, monitoring, and reporting through a dedicated online platform. Dr. Marah noted the progress made in the implementation of Resolution 3 dealing with the review of the 2023 elections, expressing hope for positive collaboration to reign in the remaining five months of the Committee’s work.
