US Election Latest: Trump Speaks at First Rally Since Debate, Ruling Out Another – Harris Says ‘We Owe It to Voters’

Quick Summary

The two American presidential candidates have held rallies in key swing states, with Kamala Harris in North Carolina and Donald Trump in Arizona.

It comes after Trump said he would not debate Harris a second time, while his rival said: “We owe it to the voters.” Trump declares ‘monumental victory’ in Harris debate – It’s time for a Donald Trump campaign rally now, with the former president taking the stage at Linda Ronstadt Music Hall in Tucson, Arizona. He enters to Lee Greenwood’s God Bless The USA – a campaign favourite. As crowds cheer, he waves and tells them they are “very rambunctious”.  He starts his speech upbeat by declaring victory over “comrade Kamala” at the presidential debate earlier this week. (Photo: Trump Said No Third Debate).

“We had a monumental victory,” he says, adding that he “won big” with independent voters and moderates. Mr Trump says his Democratic rival offered “no plans, no policies and no details” during the debate, and accused the moderators of “only correcting me on things where I was right”. Crowd cheers after being asked if they own a gun – He continually refers to Ms Harris as a “liar” and a “lunatic” and accuses her of changing her mind on policies. At one point, he asks the crowd to raise their hand if they own a gun, sparking huge cheers.  “We don’t have to go through the rest of it. If you want to keep your gun, vote Trump,” he says.

It’s important to note that Ms Harris has not said she would ban guns if elected.  Her policies state that she would “ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, require universal background checks, and support red flag laws that keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people”. Trump denies reading Project 2025. Moving onto Project 2025, Mr Trump says he hasn’t read it and it was made without his authorisation. “I don’t know what the hell it is. I purposely have not read it. I could, but I don’t want to because they never had my authorisation,” he says. Project 2025 is a 922-page plan has been billed as a list of policies for the next Republican president.

It proposes a dramatic expansion of presidential power and a plan to fire as many as 50,000 government workers to replace them with Trump loyalists, according to the Associated Press. ‘I am angry’ – Mr Trump also reiterates that he will not take part in another debate against Ms Harris (read more about this in our 20.34 post). “We’ve done two debates and because they were successful, there will be no third debate,” he says. He then goes on to say he has been painted as “angry” and that is true. “People said that I was angry at the debate. I was angry and yes, I am angry,” he says, adding that it was due to illegal immigrants being allowed into the country.

Trump brings up Springfield… again – If you’ve been following the US election so far, you’ll be aware of the debunked claims Mr Trump has been making about immigrants eating pets in Springfield, Ohio. Local authorities have said there is no evidence to back up his claims. He takes a moment to mention Springfield again, but this time says immigrants are “taking” the town’s geese and dogs. “Residents are reporting that the migrants are walking off with the town’s geese. They take the geese… and even walking off with their pets,” he says. Crowds chant ‘we’re not eating cats’ as Walz calls Trump ‘weird’ at campaign rally

Democrat vice presidential hopeful Tim Walz is speaking at a campaign event in Michigan this evening.

The Minnesota governor took the stage in Grand Rapids and thanked supporters for “caring” and showing up to the event. He also thanks his “fellow cat owner” Taylor Swift for her endorsement of the Harris-Walz ticket. “You mess with cat people, and you will find out,” he adds. He also mentions the debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump earlier this week, and confirms that there will not be a second one. “We should do another one, of course. Well, it’s not going to happen because Donald Trump confirmed today that he’s not doing another one,” he adds. “Give him a little break, that one left a mark.” He continues to poke fun at the former president, saying he looked like a “nearly 80-year-old man, shaking his fists at the clouds”.

“He said a lot of weird stuff too. You tell me if you had this on your bingo card – ‘and they’re eating cats’,” he adds, referring to Mr Trump’s unfounded claims of immigrants eating pets in Ohio. The crowd responds, chanting “we’re not eating cats” in the same tune as Ms Harris’s campaign phrase “we’re not going back”. Mr Walz goes on to call Mr Trump “weird”, claiming he reminded people “11 times that he was not weird” during a recent event. “If you have to remind people 11 times that you’re not weird, you might be weird,” he adds. ‘I was physically ill’ – Springfield residents respond to Trump’s pet-eating immigrants claimIn recent days, Donald Trump has been repeating unfounded claims that Haitian migrants have been eating pets in Springfield, Ohio.

During the presidential debate on Tuesday, he said they were eating cats and dogs, with the event’s moderators forced to step in to tell him local authorities hadn’t received any reports of that nature. Sky News caught up with residents in the city to get their reaction to the former president’s claims. Casey Rollins said they made her feel “physically ill”. “I can’t even react. I can’t even repeat it. It’s just unfathomable to me,” she added. Vieto Lawway, a Haitian migrant, said: “They are not eating the cats or the dogs. It is not in the culture at all.” One woman said she had noticed posts on Facebook about pets going missing. You can watch their reactions below…(Photo: Kamala Running Mate Walz).

Harris pauses rally to get supporter medical attention – After visiting Charlotte in North Carolina, Kamala Harris has made her way to Greensboro. The crowd is loud inside the Greensboro Coliseum, and many are donning glow-up bracelets and holding up signs. As the Democratic candidate tells the crowd now is the time to fight for freedom, she notices a person in the audience needs medical attention. She pauses her speech and asks if there is a medic available to help. She then tells the crowd: “This is who we are.”Ms Harris seems fired up, passionately telling her supporters that Donald Trump “should never stand behind the seal” again.

“Donald Trump is not fit to be president of the United States and should never occupy our nation’s highest office again,” she adds. “We love our country and we together understand the awesome responsibility that comes with the greatest privilege, the privilege and pride that comes with being an American.” In pictures: Trump’s campaign rally in Arizona – Donald Trump has finished speaking at his campaign rally in Arizona now. The former president entered the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall stage in Tucson to Lee Greenwood’s God Bless The USA, shaking hands with supporters along the way. You can read more about what he said in our 22.20 post. How Trump’s claims of immigrants eating pets started and spiralled online.

Fifty-five miles from Springfield, Ohio, a man was pictured walking down the road holding a goose. Meanwhile, 170 miles from Springfield, a “lifelong resident” of another town in the US state was arrested for allegedly killing and eating a cat. And at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, 514 miles from Springfield, Donald Trump claimed Haitian migrants were “eating the pets” of the Ohio town’s residents. Sky News has tracked how an unverified rumour spread online, taking in unrelated incidents and half-truths, repackaged and amplified on social media. The first mention of claims of Haitian migrants eating animals appears to have been made at a community meeting on 27 August.

Local Springfield resident Anthony Harris, a man describing himself as a social media influencer, said immigrants were in the park grabbing ducks by their necks, cutting their heads off and walking off with them to “eat them”. He did not provide evidence to support his claim. ECOWAS Summit Update: Cocaine Bio is Scared of Handing the ECOWAS Chair to Senegal President Faye; Bio Prefers Anglophone to Francophone Successor!

The illegal Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio, who publicly stole the June 24, 2023 general and presidential elections, is a confused man today. Cocaine King Maada Bio is not only disoriented and jittery at this point when ECOWAS commissioners are in Freetown for the 69th summit, but Bio’s SLPP regime is entirely on the brink of causing more confusion within the ECOWAS commission. The illegitimate Sierra Leone President Bio is shamefully dragging his feet over the handing over of the ECOWAS chairmanship to the rightful individual, in the person of Senegalese President Bassirou Faye, who should have got it since last year when Bio bribed to get it. Diplomatic sources have hinted that Maada Bio, the current ECOWAS chairman who dubiously secured the position last year by bribing Nigerian President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, is not planning to transfer the ECOWAS chair to President Faye. ECOWAS leaders are expected in Freetown on July 19, 2026.

EBK’s Fake Freedom Won’t Distract EJ Win; His Arrest for Betraying Democracy Looms; Tinubu Happy to See EBK’s Back; Hope He Returns Sooner to Face Citizens

The fake freedom suspiciously arranged for Ernest Bai Koroma EBK is not only a fruitless distraction, but EBK’s immediate return will suit 2023 voters. It is a massive trump card indeed, especially for electoral justice campaigners who will eventually see judicial revenge for those who undermine the June 24, 2023, general and presidential elections. EBK is obviously the first accused and chief architect of selling the 2023 votes to his cocaine paymaster, Julius Maada Bio. That is why the dubious freedom dished out to cruel EBK by the electoral commander-in-thief Julius Maada Bio is wholeheartedly welcomed by electoral justice EJ fighters whose main ambition is to restore democracy and to put on trial the betrayers of the people’s mandate. At first glance, it is clear that EBK’s recent freedom, granted by the corrupt SLPP and APC parliamentarians, is a high-class trap for him. The dramatic overturning of the ridiculous treason charge against EBK in parliament, rather than in the High Court, is a monumental blunder, deception and distraction.
