It was an international disgrace for illegal Sierra Leone President Maada Bio and his SLPP officials to be forced to wear electronic ankle tags amid the travel ban imposed by the US government. The United States embargo is up and running and Julius Maada Bio is feeling the pinch already. This is the first time the US government has refused Maada Bio’s bloated SLPP delegation to the US for Visas. It clearly indicates that the United States Travel ban recently imposed on the Bio regime for manipulating and eventually stealing the June 24, 2023, general and presidential elections has started biting deeper. Sierra Leoneans are delighted that only six out of the 56 Bio delegates were allowed to enter the US leaving the others utterly disappointed but not surprising in the aftermath of the US sanctions including travel bans, financial strangulations, and so on. Those reportedly lucky to be given US Visas include Maada Bio himself, Chief Minister David Sengeh, Presidential Spokesman Alpha Kanu, Information Minister Chernor Bah, and others. Reports have confirmed that the US government has also tagged Maada Bio’s ankle with electronic trackers like a common criminal. The five other delegates were also given ankle tags apparently to track the movement of SLPP delegates including Maada Bio. Electronic ankle bracelets are not just devices worn around your ankles. They’re part of a complex system for monitoring the behaviour of suspects or offenders – who have to comply for the system to work. Days earlier, 18 members of the Julius Maada Bio JMB Women’s Wing applied for Visas at the US Embassy in Freetown. Only one of the 18 JMB women was given a US Visa. All the remaining 17 women were bluntly refused US Visas in accordance with the latest US Travel ban imposed on the SLPP government officials. The tracking devices tagged on the ankles of Maada Bio and his five SLPP delegates are a considerable embarrassment for Sierra Leone. Meanwhile, a notorious SLPP radio host called Justice Boima of Justice Radio in Freetown has been refused a US Visa. This report was confirmed by a leading Sierra Leone social media activist in Ghana Mrsta Salone. Justice Boima is well known for propagating the wicked agenda of Maada Bio before the June 24, 2023 elections. He fell out with Maada Bio after his radio was shut down briefly because he blasted Maada Bio for overlooking the SLPP Grassroots supporters.
