Bio Orders His Ambassador to Guinea to Kidnap Sierra Leone Opposition Politician at Conakry Airport, Violating Guinea Laws
Quick Summary
Sierra Leone’s illegal President Julius Maada Bio has violated international law after instructing his Ambassador to Guinea to kidnap an innocent citizen in Conakry.
The sad news of the kidnapping of the APC opposition politician Mr Abu Bakarr Konteh, popularly known as DJ-Box, came as a shock to the people of Sierra Leone but the kidnapping itself did not actually surprise compatriots who have no confidence in the democratic credentials of the SLPP regime of Maada Bio. As news broke out about the surreptitious kidnapping and detention of DJ Box on Saturday March 23, 2024 at the Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport, previously known as Gbessia International Airport, Sierra Leoneans became worried about his safety in the hands of the violent-oriented SLPP thugs of Maada Bio. Sources say, Ambassador Alimamy Bangura recruited some unprofessional Guinea police officers to help in the kidnapping operations.
Reports have also confirmed that the incompetent Sierra Leone Ambassador to Guinea Alimamy Bangura carried out the kidnapping of DJ Box in collaboration with one Lebanese crook called Fouad Ayoub together with one Sierra Leone criminal called Myk Berewa. Keen Sierra Leone observers could not understand why the Sierra Leone Ambassador could kidnap his own citizen in a foreign country.
This act by the criminal Ambassador Alimamy Bangura flagrantly violates international law, as well as the abuse of the fundamental human rights of the victim DJ Box. This is not the first time Maada Bio has instructed his Ambassadors in Guinea or Liberia to get involved in kidnapping operations in foreign countries. Many APC opposition politicians and supporters have been arrested and brought to Sierra Leone for further persecutions.
DJ Box is an indigene of Port Loko District and was popularly elected as the APC Organising Secretary North-West Region. DJ Box is a well-liked individual who finds happiness in helping his struggling people with cash and kind. SLPP government thugs and the sad incident convinced him to leave Sierra Leone for neighbouring Guinea for his own safety. His house was recently burned down in Sierra Leone. He is a peaceful citizen and a top member of the APC executive. DJ Box is expected to be brought to Freetown. More on this story thus –
The APC Organising Secretary North-West Region Arrested in Guinea
By Abdul Bero Kamara (Chief) Sledgehammer Online News
The APC Organising Secretary, comrade Abu Bakar Konteh popularly known as DJ Box, the APC youth leader in Guinea and two other comrades were arrested on 23/03/24 in Guinea. The recent arrest of the main opposition APC party Organising Secretary for the North-West region, Comrade Abu Bakarr Konteh, also known as DJ Box, in Guinea has sparked concerns and raised questions about the state of democracy and political freedom in Sierra Leone.
The arrest allegedly carried out through the instruction of President Bio’s SLPP government, has once again highlighted the ongoing tensions between the ruling party and the opposition. DJ Box, described as a peaceful man who is known for his ability to organize people for the APC party, has faced repeated threats and intimidation in Port Loko. Despite his peaceful nature and positive impact on the youth in Sierra Leone and Guinea, he has been targeted by the government for his political affiliations and organising skills. The arrest of DJ Box is part of a larger pattern of crackdown on opposition members in Sierra Leone. Many other APC members, including high-ranking officials like Bai Mahmoud Bangura and Alpha Sheriff, have also been incarcerated, raising concerns about the shrinking space for political dissent and opposition voices in the country. In a time when the country requires reconciliation and healing, the continued targeting and arrest of opposition members only serve to deepen the existing political divisions and undermine efforts towards peace and stability.
The arrest of DJ Box and others further highlights the challenges facing democracy and political freedoms in Sierra Leone. As DJ Box is being escorted to Freetown under heavy security, the question remains: when will the intimidation and arrest of opposition members come to an end? The situation calls for a re-evaluation of the government’s approach towards political dissent and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms in Sierra Leone. On the other hand, some quarters of the APC party are calling for a radical response to this ongoing harassment and intimidation against members of the party.
