Swearing-In: UN Message Upsets Sengeh and Timothy; Facial Expressions Speak Volumes; UNOWAS Delivers the Bad News
Quick Summary
Body language specialists would easily have explained how the SLPP Chief Minister David Sengeh & SLPP Foreign Minster Timothy Kabbah are feeling today.
The facial expressions of the inept Sengeh and the odd Timothy following the delivery of the disappointing message from the UNOWAS Chief, Mr Leonardo Santos Simão, clearly show despair and knowing that power has finally, finally slipped away from their leader, Julius Maada Bio. (Photo: Face like thunder, Sengeh in a grimace and Timothy cupping his jaw in panic).
The ugly and twisted expressions on Sengeh’s and Timothy’s faces explain the pain and disgust they are feeling right after hearing the bad news from UNOWAS. Good news for the people of Sierra Leone, of course. Handing over power now or being removed is the strict message given to Bio by the Mozambican Mr Santos Simão.
Both Sengeh and Timothy know the bad news. No surprise their grimace-like look looks like smelling an unpleasant odour. And as the swearing-in fever gains momentum, the foreign visitors are still waiting in Freetown until the transition of power is done peacefully or forcefully. (Photo: UNOWAS chief Leonardo Santos, left, delivering the bad news).

Now that the foreign forces from the UN, AU, and ECOWAS have put strict national security mechanisms in place and the finances and foreign delegations are also intact in Sierra Leone, the transition of power and the swearing-in ceremony shall go on shortly and smoothly.
However, the panic-stricken and illegal Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio is facing two dilemmas. Either he peacefully hands over the presidential staff to the legitimate winner of the June 24, 2023, elections, Dr Samura Kamara, or he is booted out anytime from now.
The latter, if chosen, would not be good for Maada Bio or any of his SLPP hierarchical colleagues, because Bio’s stubborn attitude would not allow him to hand over peacefully. He would end in public disgrace or even death. Is the history of Liberia’s Samuel Doe to repeat in Sierra Leone? (Photo: Sengeh, fingers folded, saying the Lord’s prayer).

Today, Sierra Leone is at a crossroads. The people are expecting Maada Bio to use his head to do the right thing, but sadly, Maada Bio lacks sound judgment in his DNA. As the swearing-in of the actual winner in 2023, Dr Samura Kamara closes in, the international community is ready to do it.
The foreign delegates from the United Nations, the European Union, the United States, the African Union, etc., are patiently waiting for the swearing-in to occur. But Bio is shuttling around the globe ostensibly to dodge the peaceful transfer of power to Dr Samura Kamara. Bad mistake, Mr Bio! (Photos: UNOWAS boss Leonardo, Maada Bio and Dr Samura Kamara, to be sworn in shortly).

Now, after having violated four handing-over dates, the recent being on July 24, 2025, Bio shall face eviction from State House by force. Bio first failed to hand over on January 22, 2025, then on April 27, 2025, and then on July 17, 2025. And now, he failed on July 24, 2025.
Having failed on the newest deadline, Bio is finally finished. No more chances for him. He will be removed forcefully anytime from now. Everyone knows that Bio has signed all the exit documents and has agreed to give the stolen staff to the President-Elect, Dr Samura Kamara. Sierra Leoneans shall jubilate shortly. Get ready.
