“In the Post argued, ‘The Girl I Once Was’ is not a rhetorical flourish but a specific, endemic claim. The documentary evidence in the book ‘Be Unbecoming’ by Mrs Fatima Bio shows she did not flee Sierra Leone alone as a child; she was forced to flee to The Gambia as a young adult, then to the UK as a mother of two in her second marriage. “So the survival narrative she delivered to one hundred and nine three UN member states is, according to documented evidence, not her story to tell. That is a significant charge. The Post did not leave it as an assertion. It does end: the UN Resolution itself, ADL99, was originated and drafted by the founder of ‘Just Rights for Children’.

“Her US lobbyists and Sierra Leone’s diplomatic mission then positioned her as the resolution for false credit. The Child Marriage Resolution was actually originated by parliamentarians, an original leverage on the whole and manufactured track record from a prior UN 2022 Resolution.

“The title chosen for the international date compounds all of this. November 27 is Fatima Bio’s birthday. The Post explicitly provides two public justifications for securing her consent and her personal survival claim; the second justification rests on the narrative in the Washington Post. What stays with you is the gap between what the UN calendar dates signal to the world and what is actually happening on the ground for the girls’ names.
