Spain Crowned World Champions After Beating Argentina 1-0! President Trump & FIFA Boss Gianni Infantino Hand Trophy to Spanish Captain Rodri

Quick Summary

President Trump made sure he was still in shot when Spain lifted the trophy for the first time in 16 years last night! Spain are champions of the world again!

By Charlotte Marsh, Senior Football Journalist – 2026 World Cup: Spain 1-0 Argentina (AET): Ferran Torres’ extra-time winner secures Spain’s second title. Report that Ferran Torres scored the winning goal in extra time as Spain beat Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final. (Photo: Spain are champs posed with Trump).

Lionel Messi is unable to win another world title in what is expected to be his final appearance at the tournament; Spain follow up their Euro 2024 win with a World Cup title. Spain won their second World Cup title after Ferran Torres’ 106th-minute smashed finish earned a 1-0 win against defending champions Argentina in the 2026 final. Photos: Spain are champions).

Spain were deserved winners. Torres scored with Spain’s 20th shot while the game ended without Argentina registering a single shot on target. Lionel Messi touched the ball just 54 times in a match that took more than two hours to complete and featured a 27-minute half-time break.

Spain’s win had shades of their maiden victory in 2010, too, scoring in the second period of extra time after a goalless 90 minutes. Then, it was Andres Iniesta against the Netherlands – now another Barcelona player, Torres, adds his name to the history books. (Photos: Messi in tears).

A nod back from fellow substitute Nico Williams saw the former Manchester City forward storm on to the ball and fire past Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez. It came minutes after Williams had an initial strike ruled out for an alleged Mikel Merino foul on Nicolas Otamendi.

Argentina did keep their shape well as Spain applied consistent pressure – especially after Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez was sent off for a reckless second yellow at the end of normal time – and relied on Martinez to make a string of saves. Their only threat emerged in added-on time at the end of extra time, with Giuliano Simeone blazing over a shot that could have sent the game to penalties. (Photos: Scorer Torres and Lamal posed with Trump).

But there was no fairytale end to Messi’s expected final World Cup appearance, with the Argentina skipper anonymous for much of the game, and his team unable to get hold of the ball. He was also beaten to his first World Cup Golden Boot by France’s Kylian Mbappe, who won it by two goals.

Spain remain undefeated under manager Luis de la Fuente in tournament matches and add a World Cup win to their Euros title from 2024. It has been quite the tournament, from an opening draw to Cape Verde to making France and Argentina look like average teams. There were unsavoury scenes at full-time as Leandro Paredes and Nahuel Molina looked to strike out at the celebrating Spain players after Argentina’s defeat. (Photos: Spanish captain Rodri with Trump and Messi given a silver medal).

Molina threw out an elbow and caught Rodri, while Paredes appeared to kick Eric Garcia to the floor and pushed him back with a strong hand around his neck when the Spaniard got back to his feet to confront him. Another Argentine player then held back a Spanish substitute, before Paredes came in, ripped his bib and swung for him twice, catching him in the face.

Paredes, who came on at half-time, was booked within minutes of coming on and escaped several other yellow card offences. He was eventually sent off in the aftermath of the post-match hostilities.

Messi in tears – Lionel Messi looked fine after the final whistle, but tears are rolling down his cheeks now as he looks at the Argentina fans. The emotion is too much for him. Is this the final time we see him at the World Cup? He’ll be 43 in 2030…

ECOWAS Summit Update: Cocaine Bio is Scared of Handing the ECOWAS Chair to Senegal President Faye; Bio Prefers Anglophone to Francophone Successor!

The illegal Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio, who publicly stole the June 24, 2023 general and presidential elections, is a confused man today. Cocaine King Maada Bio is not only disoriented and jittery at this point when ECOWAS commissioners are in Freetown for the 69th summit, but Bio’s SLPP regime is entirely on the brink of causing more confusion within the ECOWAS commission. The illegitimate Sierra Leone President Bio is shamefully dragging his feet over the handing over of the ECOWAS chairmanship to the rightful individual, in the person of Senegalese President Bassirou Faye, who should have got it since last year when Bio bribed to get it. Diplomatic sources have hinted that Maada Bio, the current ECOWAS chairman who dubiously secured the position last year by bribing Nigerian President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, is not planning to transfer the ECOWAS chair to President Faye. ECOWAS leaders are expected in Freetown on July 19, 2026.

EBK’s Fake Freedom Won’t Distract EJ Win; His Arrest for Betraying Democracy Looms; Tinubu Happy to See EBK’s Back; Hope He Returns Sooner to Face Citizens

The fake freedom suspiciously arranged for Ernest Bai Koroma EBK is not only a fruitless distraction, but EBK’s immediate return will suit 2023 voters. It is a massive trump card indeed, especially for electoral justice campaigners who will eventually see judicial revenge for those who undermine the June 24, 2023, general and presidential elections. EBK is obviously the first accused and chief architect of selling the 2023 votes to his cocaine paymaster, Julius Maada Bio. That is why the dubious freedom dished out to cruel EBK by the electoral commander-in-thief Julius Maada Bio is wholeheartedly welcomed by electoral justice EJ fighters whose main ambition is to restore democracy and to put on trial the betrayers of the people’s mandate. At first glance, it is clear that EBK’s recent freedom, granted by the corrupt SLPP and APC parliamentarians, is a high-class trap for him. The dramatic overturning of the ridiculous treason charge against EBK in parliament, rather than in the High Court, is a monumental blunder, deception and distraction.
