As watchdogs of the nation, where the interests of the people must take precedence, honest journalists are expected to cover every story that directly or indirectly affects the livelihoods of the citizenry. Sesco, a popular journalist in Sierra Leone and Chairman of the Board of Directors of National Civil Registration Authority NCRA, the organisation that tampered with voter data in the 2023 elections, is unfortunately still wearing his beloved Kamajor clothes despite having had the opportunity for decades to show patriotism rather than partisanship, especially for a failed political party like the Kamajor SLPP Paopas.

It beggars belief that most of these highly compromised so-called media professionals have sold their birthright for meagre sums to the detriment of the majority of suffering Sierra Leoneans. Putting money and partisan beliefs ahead of the country is the worst betrayal a citizen could do. But justice awaits them all.

Corrupt Sesco, is just one of the fake journalists who has not only betrayed this noble profession but has also disgraced his humanity by openly bluffing in a TV interview about his enjoyable job in Bio’s regime, provoking compatriots who cannot afford a meal a day. Yet, we have this nincompoop Sesco bluffing on television about Prado SUV vehicle AC blowing his backside ‘fey’, fey’, fey’, fey’, fey’! It was an unbelievable and disgraceful watch to see a once respectable media man, Sesco, publisher of the Global Times newspaper, shaming himself. He lavished praise on Bio for dishing out a chairman job that has given him enormous joy in his life, while most citizens are languishing in abject poverty and misery.

Hear what the arrogant Sesco is bluffing on TV: “Anything that will make us lose elections, I will not support it. And I will call it out. Because with us in power, there are so many privileges we are enjoying. Like me, inside my Prado, going to my village in Manjoro, the AC blowing me ‘fey’, ‘fey’, ‘fey’, ‘fey’, ‘fey’, (waving his corrupt hands like a lost captain), it is because I am Chairman, ooh.”

TV: You bluffing?; Sesco responded: “No, I am not bluffing. That is why I said it is a privilege for President Maada Bio to appoint me to become Chairman and buy a brand new Prado for me, and going to Manjoro, the AC blowing me ‘fey’, ‘fey’, ‘fey’, ‘fey’, ‘fey’, it’s a privilege.

“I like it. I am serving my country. So, I am used to it. I do not want to leave power. Anybody who wants us to leave power within our party, we will not agree. No matter your status. It is incredible to see media practitioners like Sorie Fofana stooping so low as to overlook the sufferings of the people. Sesco, as media colleagues often call Sorie Fofana, is now a different person, bloated, unrecognisable, well-fed with corrupt cash, unlike the well-known Sesco of yesteryear. How power corrupts so menacingly for some people.

Even then, Sesco was known as a diehard SLPP member, a Kamajor journalist, of course, but he never stooped so low so openly on television. Even when Sesco was the Press Attaché at the Sierra Leone High Commission in the UK under President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, he was a down-to-earth person, living a simple life, a decent human being. But Hayaa, what a turnaround.

There are many idiots in the Sierra Leone media, like Sesco, who have become pompous, arrogant, and stupid for being insensitive to the plight of the suffering people of Sierra Leone caused by the bad governance of their beloved and illegal President Maada Bio, whom they supported to steal the June 24, 2023 elections.

Sesco’s negative attitude has simply highlighted the rife corruption damaging the once reputable image of the Sierra Leone media. A few months ago, the international partners assembled the Sierra Leone media in Freetown to work with them so that democracy and good governance would be the norm in the country. Other internal stakeholders, like Civil Society Organisations CSOs, etc., met with global partners.

During the conference, thousands of dollars in cash were given to the Sierra Leone stakeholders to help in promoting democracy. Specifically, the media and CSOs were advised to use the money to inform the nation about the implementation of the tripartite agreement by disseminating news to the public.

These corrupt media houses, including the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists SLAJ never did what they were told despite receiving huge sums of money. No wonder the same media and the corrupt CSOs are all working for Maada Bio and enjoying the drug cash from Europe’s most wanted fugitive Jos Leijdekker.

Sesco is the publisher of the Global Times newspaper. He was appointed by President Maada Bio as Chairman, Board of Directors, National Civil Registration Authority, NCRA, in July 2022. It was in accordance with Section 3 (4) of the NCRA Act, 2016. Sesco was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sierra Leone Cable Limited SALCAB before joining NCRA. But accountability awaits all the suspects.
