Every day, we hear terrible stories about foreigners from near and far residents in Sierra Leone and are doing various businesses in the country, engaging in degrading and molesting citizens in their workplaces, namely stores, offices and private residences. The situation is worse under Julius Maada Bio’s failed SLPP regime. Indigenes of all nations worldwide are always given the topmost priority and 100% protection before anyone else when it comes to good governance and democracy, and citizenship issues.

However, in Sierra Leone, under the illegal SLPP/Paopa regime of Maada Bio, the situation is conspicuously different. Only in Sierra Leone do you see indigenous citizens openly disrespected, degraded, molested, harassed, and intimidated by wicked foreigners.

The evil foreign nationals (mind you, not all foreign residents are bad and lawless) in Sierra Leone are taking advantage of the lawlessness and illegality of Maada Bio’s cocaine driven regime to punish citizens who are working for them as maids, store assistants, etc.

Complaints of molestations ranging from insults, beatings to even killings of indigenous workers have multiplied by highly corrupt foreign investors such as the Chinese, Indians, Lebanese and others who are engaged in businesses and mining activities. (Photos: Illegal Chinese miners deported).

Rife information reaching the Organiser newspaper says the evil Chinese, Indians, Lebanese and other foreign nationals from West Africa and beyond are dishing out this inhuman treatment to innocent Sierra Leone citizens because they know nothing will come out of it.

The corrupt foreigners are aware of the uselessness and hopelessness of the Bio regime, and as a consequence, they are executing this copycat style imitation often adopted by the tyrannical regime of Maada Bio and his APC party executives and other corrupt cronies.

Most often, governments around the world are always putting the priorities of their citizens above foreign nationals. When such countries protect their citizens in this way, certain people call them tribalists or racists. But in reality, it is not racism to protect citizens’ status.

Many social media bloggers in Sierra Leone have highlighted this bondage. Harassment and intimidation of citizens are particularly prevalent in the mining industry, controlled today by corrupt Chinese nationals, Indians, Lebanese, and other foreigners.

The degradation of citizens, whose suffering at the hands of brutal Chinese miners is beyond terrible, is still going on while the hopeless SLPP/Paopa regime is looking the other way. What has happened and continues to occur in the country are the feelings of Sierra Leoneans as second-class citizens by virtue of their poverty and the power that corrupt foreigners have garnered over the years to the detriment of the majority of citizens.

This disgraceful and slavery-like status for most Sierra Leoneans is unacceptable. Since patriotic citizens would like to see foreign investors in the country, it is also important for these foreign businessmen and women to uphold the rule of law and respect local workers.

It is unfortunate that the highly corrupt cocaine regime of Maada Bio has paved the way and continues to show these corrupt foreigners that Sierra Leoneans should be molested and demeaned and nothing will come of it. That is why corrupt foreigners are following suit.

Hopefully, this bondage being inflicted on citizens of Sierra Leone shall come to an end immediately the President-elect, Dr Samura Kamara, comes to power very shortly. The new government is obligated to protect all law-abiding foreign investors in Sierra Leone, but equally lawless foreign investors will face the full force of the law. Labour and employment laws must protect workers. Justice will be provided for molested workers. The Lebanese Community, Indian Council, the Chinese Group, etc. should advise members accordingly.

As for the Fullah Progressive Union and others, FPU should caution some of its members who are unlawfully buying government and private land. Many Fullahs were not born in Sierra Leone, but corruption is putting indigenous people at a disadvantage. Also, Sierra Leoneans should start loving one another. Sadly, citizens love foreigners more than their compatriots. It is wrong.
