Faye’s Promise in Lungi to Restore Sierra Leone Democracy is on Track; ECOWAS Chiefs of Defence Staff, Plus Idara, Took Oaths in Abuja to Abide by Faye’s Team
The Chiefs of Defence Staff of the Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS including SLPP CDS Idara, recently took oath in Abuja vowing to abide by Faye's new team.
Since July 19, 2026, when the President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, took over the ECOWAS Commission from the illegal Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio in Lungi, Sierra Leone, there has been massive progress in bringing sanity to the sub-region. At the Lungi ECOWAS conference, where some Heads of State attended, the new ECOWAS Commission Chairman, President Faye, promised, minutes after succeeding Maada Bio, that his priority would be to usher democracy in Sierra Leone.
That first Faye promise struck Maada Bio like a thunderbolt, and the illegal SLPP Paopa regime has never recovered since. And it is also important to note that the Lungi promise made by President Faye still stands, solid as the Rock of Gibraltar. (Photos: ECOWAS CDS meeting in Abuja. ECOWAS President Gen Diop).

During the Lungi conference in July, the new ECOWAS Chairman, President Faye, announced the appointment of the new ECOWAS President General Ebrima Diop, his compatriot from Senegal. Observers knew straight away that President Faye wanted his new team to succeed.
And indeed, Faye’s new-look ECOWAS team has brought back the hope, optimism, and respect the ECOWAS Commission had lost over many years. Under the illegal Sierra Leone President Bio as chairman, he dragged ECOWAS into the gutter, turning it into a laughingstock.
Today, the people of Sierra Leone and indeed the international community have once again respected ECOWAS under the leadership of President Faye. His rebranding of the commission continues, and on Monday, October 12, the Chiefs of Staff took the oath in Abuja to propel the Faye team forward.

Sources say that the oaths taken by the ECOWAS Chiefs of Defence Staff in Nigeria, including the SLPP CDS Lt Gen Idara Bangura, were meant to implement the policies in full, including but not limited to democratising Sierra Leone and curbing terrorism, among other policies in West Africa.
The new ECOWAS Commission under the leadership of the Senegalese President Faye has put every mechanism in place to commence work in West Africa where certain countries in the sub-region pose serious threats to democratic governance and peace and security.
Sierra Leone is one key nation that needs freedom, democracy and law and order immediately. President Faye is a serious ECOWAS Chair, unlike Bio, who destroyed the image of ECOWAS. Faye is ready to free Sierra Leone from the dictatorial rule of cocaine Bio. (Photos: CDS meeting in Abuja. And ECOWAS Chairman Faye in Abuja recently).

No wonder, Maada Bio and his APC traitors such as the former President Ernest Bai Koroma are in a panic mood. Faye will succeed where Bio has failed. That is why Faye made Sierra Leone his first major homework to succeed in his reign as ECOWAS boss.
So far, Sierra Leone voters in 2023 are hopeful that President Faye will save Sierra Leone by removing Maada Bio and restoring the president-elect, Dr Samura Kamara. The international community knows that Maada Bio stole the June 24, 2023, elections.
In Abuja, during the latest meeting, the ECOWAS President General Birame Diop told the Chiefs of Defence Staff about the urgent need for cohesion to fight terrorism, among other vital responsibilities. A road map was put in place for a more stable and prosperous sub-region.
