Poison Tree, whose real name is Mr Stephen Alimamy Kargbo, passed away on July 21, 2026, at the Government Hospital in Kabala after a protracted ailment. And true to his advice, among other patriotic media bloggers’ pieces of advice, the people of Sierra Leone boycotted the protest planned against the illegal President Julius Maada Bio at the 69th Session of the ECOWAS Heads of State summit in Lungi, where Bio disgracefully lost the ECOWAS Chair.

The coveted ECOWAS Chairmanship went to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal, who in turn appointed his own compatriot General Brame Diop as ECOWAS Commission President, replacing the corrupt Gambian diplomat Dr Omar Alieu Touray.

Luckily, as fate would have it, the gallant soldier Poison Tree knew about Bio’s loss before he passed away to eternity. Poison Tree died knowing the good news that his efforts and the efforts of other EJ bloggers did not go in vain. It was consoling for sickly Poison Tree on his deathbed. RIP.

Today, as families and friends gather for his funeral in Badala Village, the late Poison Tree, the man who retired as a Staff Sergeant in the Sierra Leone Armed Forces, has gone to heaven and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, our gallant soldier and blogging giant. RIP.

Sadly, Badala village will not host the patriotic social media bloggers who will not be present today for fear of being arrested and detained and even killed by the desperate killing machine of Maada Bio’s brutal SLPP/Paopa regime. RIP, Poison Tree.

Mr Poison Tree, the true African spiritual hero, is survived by four lovely widows and 17 children and many grandchildren. “Only God would kill me, and no one else,” the brave Poison Tree would often say. He was the only blogger brave enough to show Bio his Badala address.
