Sierra Leoneans, in the majority of the course, have no hesitation to describe the Inter-Religious Council and the Peace Commission, and other internal stakeholders as enemies of the state because of their conspicuous silence and lackadaisical attitude despite the blatant crimes against humanity in the last five years of President Julius Maada Bio’s SLPP misrule and maladministration. Sent by their paymaster Maada Bio to cajole the APC party into joining their beleaguered SLPP administration, the Inter-Religious Council – comprising of Christians and Muslim leaders – and the Peace Commission have recently engaged with the APC party but the outcome has clearly shown that the APC is unmovable and its stance on its previous demands still stand. The APC hierarchy who attended the meeting included the Deputy Party Chairman Alhaji Osman Yansaneh, the Freetown Mayor Madam Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, and others. APC admonised that the Inter-Religious leaders and the Peace Commission should be sincere in the execution of their peace mission if they are to achieve anything positive. APC reminded them that they know where the problem lies and advised the so-called peacemakers to go where the source of the problem is. Rather sheepishly, the representatives of the Religious Council and Peace Commission were taken aback when the blunt APC delegation called a spade a spade. “Peace envoys, my foot,” blasts an APC Grassroots supporter. The insincerity and dishonesty of Bio’s peace arbiters are glaringly obvious. APC has advised the so-called peace arbitrators to be honest and sincere if they are to achieve any positive results in the engagement. This is not a dialogue, according to the APC party but merely engaging. It is an open knowledge of what had happened before, during, and after the June 24 general elections when the crook Chairman of Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone ECSL Mohamed Kenewui Konneh fraudulently announced the results on June 27, 2023, even before the counting and tabulations had been completed.
