It was a treble hammer blow unleashed on the incumbent Sierra Leone President Maada Bio by the United States of America government. The irritation faced by Maada Bio in the US was three-fold. First, the Biden administration disdainfully refused Maada Bio from visiting the capital city of Washington DC. And Secondly Maada Bio was prevented from meeting officials of the Millennium Challenge Corporation MCC. (Photo: Failed Bio arrived home from America dejected).

And thirdly, in fact, the first hammer blow that was unleashed on Maada Bio’s corrupt and illegal SLPP regime was the blockage of the MCC money by the United States Congress. The American government ended Maada Bio’s visit by irritating him and refusing him entry into Washington DC. Also disgracefully stopped his delegation from meeting with the Millennium Challenge Corporation MCC as Congress blocked the US$480 cash grant.

The long-awaited $480 million US dollars grant from the MCC has been tagged with the progress of the Tripartite Committee recommendations. “Only the full implementation of the recommendations would result in the release of the MCC money to Sierra Leone,” sources close to the US States Department have repeatedly revealed. Other sources have intimated that the MCC cash would never touch the palms of Bio’s presidency.

Maada Bio’s troubles in America started last week in New York where Sierra Leone was to take the rotational monthly presidency of the United Nations Security Council. This monthly chairmanship is normally chaired by Permanent Representatives of designated countries to the UN or by their Foreign Ministers. The illegal Sierra Leone President Bio never expected to face this disgrace in the US. After Maada Bio had addressed the UN Security Council members, touching on the injustices the African continent continues to experience in not having a permanent seat on the world body, Maada Bio decided to host a dinner in an apparent attempt to lure UN officials to recognise his unrecognised SLPP regime.

Those present confirmed that no recognition was forthwith. Amid the disappointment, Maada Bio had wanted to visit the US capital Washington DC to network with government officials for recognition but to no avail. Even when Bio requested to meet with the MCC officials regarding the delayed 480 US dollars, he was turned down big time. It was the first disappointment the corrupt SLPP regime was confronted with when Maada Bio and his delegation arrived in New York.

Popularly known as the electoral thief, Maada Bio was given a bitter lesson he would never forget that western democracies do not tolerate anyone who undermines democracy. The electoral thievery that occurred on June 24, 2023 multi-tier elections in Sierra Leone orchestrated by Maada Bio and his corrupt Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone ECSL Chairman Mohamed Kenewui Konneh is still fresh on the minds of the international community.

Bio got the shock of his miserable life when he and SLPP delegation were refused into the US capital Washington DC from their bases in New York. Reports say, Bio was told that their visas were for New York City only where he was a guest of the United Nations Security Council because of Sierra Leone’s turn to occupy the Presidency of the United Nations for this month of August. Bio was reminded that nobody steps on the toes of the American government and other western democracies and expect to go scot-free. Maada Bio and his corrupt SLPP regime have stepped on these toes and even insulted them for no justifiable reasons. Bio’s major blunder was to accuse the US of interfering in the June 24, 2023 elections. Bio blamed the US government during last year’s visit to the University of Washington. Inside Sierra Leone, the SLPP National Chairman Dr Prince Harding aka ‘Bullet’ insulted the west by dubbing them as ‘Educated Dwarfs’.

Coupled with the broad daylight robbery of the June 24 elections and the terrible human rights violations and genocide committed by the Bio presidency in last six years, no sensible individual would expect democratic institutions and civilised nations to allow Maada Bio and his bloodthirsty SLPP bandits to go scot-free. It is virtually impossible for Bio to escape justice this time. The lightening of the Flame of Justice by the Special Court and the ICC in Freetown is no child’s play. Those who bear the greatest responsibilities since April 4, 2018 will face the full force of the law.

And after making his scripted speech on Africa’s appeal for a permanent seat or two on the United Nations Security Council, followed with a dubious dinner, Maada Bio wanted to visit Washington DC but was bluntly rejected by the US. By then, the US Congress had already refused to approve the MCC cash by advising that only the full implementation of the Tripartite Committee recommendations would see the approval of the MCC cash come to reality. Kudos to the APC leader Dr Samura Kamara for standing to defend Electoral Justice.
