ECOWAS Hammers Bio’s Coconut Head After Insisting Tripartite Probe Must Go Ahead on Time
Quick Summary
The toothless bulldog in West Africa called ECOWAS has finally started biting in Abuja where ECOWAS leaders supported the Tripartite probe.
In other words, the ECOWAS leaders warned Maada Bio that the work of the Tripartite Investigations Committee must go ahead and it should be on time. Fifteen leaders of the Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS did not mince their words when they warned the illegal Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio about the significance of the Peace Dialogue in Sierra Leone that gave birth to the Communique that in turn produced the Tripartite Investigations Committee. ECOWAS made it clear that the six-month time frame for the Tripartite Investigations Committee must be respected. The Tripartite Communique which mandated the three-cross-party signatories to abide by all parties concerned was reiterated by ECOWAS over the weekend. Maada Bio who also attended the emergency ECOWAS Summit in Abuja, was visibly taken aback when the ECOWAS Chairman President Tinubu of Nigeria announced the latest position of ECOWAS on the three-cross-party committee.
Prominent among the discussion was Sierra Leone where a blatant constitutional coup took place by Maada Bio who stole the elections of June 24, 2023, thereby plunging the nation into abyss. ECOWAS is under serious pressure following the continuous military coups and constitutional coups in the sub-region and they made it clear that ECOWAS would not tolerate any more overthrows of democratic governments. This is the first time ECOWAS has made a move that shows that they are ready to restore democracy in Sierra Leone and the wider sub-region. (Photo: Signing of the Dialogue).

Most Sierra Leoneans are delighted that ECOWAS making its historic move and taking the next level for Tripartite to succeed. ECOWAS warning Bio to abide by the Committee Investigations is welcome news. There is a definite and very bright illumination at the end of the tunnel. Sierra Leoneans who adored democracy would soon laugh like pregnant rabbits because ECOWAS had thrown its weight on the Tripartite Investigations Committee for the first time. From Abuja, the headquarters of ECOWAS, the leadership agreed to implement many goodies in Sierra Leone. Deploying ECOMOG peacekeepers to stabilise the security has also been approved.
Most importantly, ECOWAS has reiterated its endorsement of the Dialogue Communique and advised all parties who appended their signatures to respect what they signed. All parties to the Dialogue must abide by the Tripartite Agreement ECOWAS has reiterated in the presence of Maada Bio. All stakeholders are to implement the dictates of the Communique to the letter and within the six-month time frame. The three parties comprising the Tripartite Investigations Committee include the SLPP regime, the APC party and the International Community. The welcoming news was broken by the APC media activist Mallam.
Mallam explains thus – FINALLY, ECOWAS HAS SPOKEN ABOUT THE DIALOGUE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SLPP ILLEGITIMATE GOVERNMENT AND THE APC SIGNED AT THE BINTUMANI HOTEL TO BE IMPLEMENTED WITHIN THE STIPULATED TIMEFRAME. In their Final Communique – Sixty-Fourth (64th) Ordinary Session of The Authority Of Ecowas Heads of State and Government, the commission agreed on the following for Sierra Leone.
Statement by ECOWAS – The Authority commends the signing of the “Agreement for National Unity” that emanated from the mediated dialogue between the government and the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party and urges all parties and other stakeholders to implement the Agreement in good faith within the stipulated timeframe. “ECOWAS stated”… Mallam, the political Analyst.
