Hypocrite ECOWAS had the balls to say they are shocked by what happened in Sierra Leone under Maada Bio. Despite knowing all the human rights violations, and mass murders committed by Julius Maada Bio’s corrupt regime, ECOWAS sat on their oars and did nothing. Today, hypocrite ECOWAS leaders are pretending not to know. Any individual, or institution local or international that harbours the faintest idea to augment the stay of Maada Bio in power even for a minute would be considered an enemy of the Sierra Leone people. That is why the majority of Sierra Leoneans are warning the leaders of ECOWAS to stop the dubious games they are playing to aid and abet Maada Bio, the man who stole the peoples’ votes on June 24, 2023, general and presidential elections. ECOWAS leaders have been conspicuously silent on all the numerous atrocities human rights abuses and extra-judicial killings of innocent Sierra Leoneans by Maada Bio’s SLPP regime since April 4, 2018, when he took power from the APC party. There are documentary, video and audio proofs to show that Maada Bio ordered the killings at Pademba Road Prisons in 2020. Not to mention the Makeni massacre of peaceful protesters, the Tombo killings, the Thonko Limba killings, the Mile 91 killings, the Lunsar murders, the August 10, 2022 killings, and so on. The recent visit of the ECOWAS Commission and the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Sierra Leone were led by Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, and Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff General Christorpher Musa.

ECOWAS’s negative conduct in Sierra Leone descended to an all-time low after Maada Bio connived with his criminal Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone ECSL Mohamed Kenewui Konneh to publicly steal the June 24, 2023 elections much to the chagrin of the local and international elections observers including the National Elections Watch NEW, EU Observer Mission, the African Union Observer Mission, the Carter Centre etc. Most Sierra Leoneans are still incensed with rage in the aftermath of the electoral theft by Maada Bio and his collaborators. Yet, the toothless bulldog called ECOWAS did nothing but pretend all was bright and beautiful.

Despite the broad daylight electoral thievery by Maada Bio, ECOWAS is yet to publicly condemn Maada Bio for undermining democracy and for encouraging a constitutional coup on the people of Sierra Leone who voted overwhelmingly against Maada Bio in the June 24 elections. ECOWAS kept mute on the constitutional coup committed by Maada Bio but when it came to the fake coup on Sunday, November 26, 2023, everyone saw a delegation from ECOWAS flying into Sierra Leone a day after the stage-managed coup to support their partner-in-crime Maada Bio. What a shame!

It was disheartening to hear the ECOWAS contingent lavishing praises on Maada Bio and even went on to say they are ‘Proud’ of the illegal Sierra Leone President. This singular remark by the useless ECOWAS delegation was an insult to the suffering Sierra Leoneans who had voted out this tyrant called Maada Bio but instead of handing over power peacefully to the real winner Dr Samura Kamara of the main opposition APC party, Maada Bio resorted to electoral theft, bloody violence, intimidation, extra-judicial killings and assassination attempts on the life of Dr Samura Kamara. The corrupt ECOWAS leaders have invariably laid the foundation for another Rwanda-type genocide in Sierra Leone. ECOWAS is the most useless group in the sub-region. When you observe the recent delegation from ECOWAS visiting Sierra Leone to sympathise with the illegal President Julius Maada Bio regarding the fake coup on Sunday, November 26, 2023, you will realise how useless and hopeless ECOWAS is.

It beggars belief that these ECOWAS delegates and delegation from Nigeria, could not exhibit any knowledge on what is happening in Sierra Leone past and current. Or maybe, ECOWAS are abreast with the occurrences in Sierra Leone but are only paying deaf ears to the numerous human rights activities and the undemocratic activities under Maada Bio. The fact of the matter is that Maada Bio had destroyed democracy in Sierra Leone. Not to mention the socio-economic problems and the extra-judicial killings by Maada Bio’s SLPP regime since April 4, 2018. Yet, ECOWAS is turning a blind eye. For what? Only they and Maada Bio know. The tribal sentiments and the polarisation of the country today under Bio, Sierra Leone is not only heading in the wrong direction, but it is sitting on a time bomb.

The November 26 blood bath is a classic example of ethnic cleansing in Sierra Leone by Maada Bio’s thugs. People from the north and northwest of Sierra Leone are being systematically killed simply because they are Temnes, Limbas, Lokos or critics of the SLPP regime dominated by the Mende tribe based in the southeast. Presently, people from the northwest are deeply upset over the murders of their people and their blood is boiling with rage. The Rwanda-style genocide seems to be rearing its ugly head in Sierra Leone. Unless and until ECOWAS stops siding with the tyrant Maada Bio and does the right things, Sierra Leone will descend into tribal and civil war.
