Australian Mining Firm Pays Two-Year Rents to Land Owner Families in Panguma

An Australian mining company has put smiles on the faces of families of land owners thanks to recent rent payments made in Panguma.

 

Reports have confirmed that the New Fields Resources, a mining firm from Australia - comprises of ​Sierra Diamonds​ and Allotropes Diamonds​ - has paid two year surface rents to families whose lands are being contracted for mining purposes in Panguma in Lower Bambara chiefdom Kenema district, east of Sierra Leone. The two years surface rent agreement is estimated at Le 878,000,000,00 (Eight Hundred and Seventy Eight Million Leones​) for the 2017/2018

The Executive Director of ​New Fields Resources​ Mike Fynn reportedly presented the cheques on behalf of the company to the various beneficiaries.

Such beneficiaries include the Kenema District Council, the Paramount chief, Chiefdom Administration and Constituency Developnent Management Fund.

The signing of the contractual surface rent agreement by all stakeholders climaxed the happy occasion amid joy and celebration.
