FIFA Finally Suspends Sierra Leone from all Football Activities with Immediate Effect!

By a press release (06/10/18)

The Federation of International Football Association FIFA, has finally axed Sierra Leone after authorities failed to abide by FIFA rules.

FIFA, the world governing football body, sadly decided, through the Sierra Leone Football Association SLFA, to suspend all football activities in the country. (Photo: FIFA President Gianni Infantino).

Reports yesterday say the Bureau of the FIFA Council decided as a last resort to suspend the Sierra Leone Football with immediate effect due to government interference regarding the recent sacking of the Sierra Leone Football President Isha Johansen.

This decision comes after a recent letter from FIFA to the Minister of Sports of Sierra Leone to express grave concern about the removal of the SLFA President as well as the SLFA General Secretary Chris Kamara.

And the FIFA request to the Sierra Leone authorities to allow both officials to have continued access to the SLFA premises without further delay was not adhered to by SLFA. (Photo: The sacked SLFA boss Isha Johansen).

FIFA sees this flagrant disobedience exhibited by the Sierra Leone Football Association SLFA officials as an affront to their authority. So FIFA had no alternative but to suspend the country.

Not all gloom and doom for football in Sierra Leone. FIFA has however promised to ensure that the operations of SLFA, including FIFA-funded projects, are not jeopardised.

In Freetown yesterday, there were reports of ridiculous jubilation by SLFA officials after the received their September salaries in the sum of US50 dollars from FIFA.
