Reports say the successful meeting with Sports Minister Nyelenkeh, also revealed another FA strongman Chris Kamara being confirmed to continue in his role at SLFA. All stakeholders including the EXCO members, agreed to map a way forward to improve football and sports in general in the country.

The Minister is reported to be abreast with the problems that surround the football family. And the good news from the meeting was that Isha Johansen and Chris Kamara were reinstated as SLFA President and General Secretary respectively.

Sierra Leone Brewery Donates 50 Million Leones to COFA

By Ranger

Sierra Leone Brewery Limited, the country’s leading brewing company past week end, donated 50 Million Leones to the Central One Football Association (COFA) in a bid to facilitate the development of the Community League which has taken the place of the Premier League in the country over the past years and patronised by sports loving fans in the city.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony of the Le 50 million cheque to the Association, Arthur Kallon, a member of the SLBL Marketing Team, maintained that this is the second time that the company has come on board to support COFA and this is due to the organisation’s ability to utilise the first support of Le40 million given to them for the smooth running of the league. He further stressed that this has built a confidence and trust between both parties.

He said the first time we gave them Le40 million, they were able to use the money for the intended purposes. That is why this time around they decided to increase the amount of the donation.

Describing the Association as Stars Central One Football Association, Kallon disclosed that they will be displaying their products during the Inter Community League, stressing that they have no regrets doing business with the Association. This he said will provide fans with the opportunity to buy their favourite drinks whilst watching the games and even in their celebrations after matches.

He was accompanied by a member of the Sales Department, Rolland Williams, who also spoke about the various products apart from Star Beer.

Sammah Sesay, COFA's chairman, thanked the SLBL for the confidence it has on them which has prompted them to donate the second amount of Le50 million. He disclosed that the money will be used to further motivate the clubs as prize money for the winners in the league. Le50 million will go to the winner, whilst the Association will award Le25 million to the runners-up. There will also be prizes for “best player” in the competition.

Sesay went on to name some football lovers who had donated medals, trophies, premier league balls and track suit jackets to the Association, like Bob Sesay, Christian Dauda.
