The Sudden Death of Sierra Leone's 'Trump' Saddens the NGC Leader Dr. Yumkella!

By a press release (03/05/18)

The sudden death of Sierra Leone politician Osman Tarawalie alias 'Salone Trump' has shocked many in the country, including the NGC leader.

"I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of our brother Osman Tarawalie a.k.a Salone Trump. My deepest condolences to the entire family during this difficult time. His ability to use humour in our political discourse was legendary. He will be long remembered and very fondly too. May his soul rest in peace," NGC leader and MP Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella remembered his colleague politician. (Photo: Late Salone Trump, left, with Dr. Kandeh Yumkella during the March elections).

'Salone Trump' passed away suddenly in Freetown on Monday morning 30th April to the shock of many Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad who had enjoyed his humourous political campaigns during the March general elections in Sierra Leone. His death is very sudden and seems extraordinary. And it is still not clear as to what medical reason or reasons are responsible for his untimely demise. He was buried the same day in tradition of the Muslim faith.

During the run-off presidential elections on March 31, between APC candidate Dr. Samura Kamara and the SLPP candidate Julius Maada Bio, 'Salone Trump' as an independent lent his unwavering support to the SLPP candidate and urged all his handful of supporters to vote for President Bio.

Many observers who witnessed his funeral on Monday were shocked to observe that only few of his family members and friends were present to escort his wooden coffin from the Mosque to the cemetary where 'Salone Trump' was laid to rest.

"Surprising that no political party leader or top government official was present to give 'Salone Trump' the last respect he deserved," a close friend told in Freetown. May he Rest in Peace. (Photo above: Late Salone Trump's son with Sierra Leone musician during the funeral).
