APC and SLPP Lawyers Appear in the High Court to Hear MP Petitions in Today!

High Court in Freetown will be dramatic today as lawyers for the ruling SLPP party and opposition APC party hear petition cases for MPs. 

 

Latest reports have intimated that the APC National Secretary General Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh has confirmed the petitioning of fifty three newly elected Members of Parliament from both the APC and SLPP parties. (Photo: High Court in Freetown will be dramatic today).

According to reports, the ruling SLPP government has petitioned 21 parliamentarians belonging to the APC while the APC has also petitioned 32 members of parliament of the SLPP.

That is why lawyers for both the APC and SLPP will appear at the High Court today to argue the merits and demerits of their clients' petitions. (Photo: Speaker SBB Dumbuya, below, will be replaced in this parliament).
 


Reports say if the High Court grants the injunction, it means the 53 petitioned MPs of both parties will not take the oath tomorrow Tuesday and will automatically be ineligible take part in the elections of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
