SLPP and APC Parties Smoke Peace Pipe at President Maada Bio's Residence!

By Abu Shaw in London (07/04/18)

Historic moment in Sierra Leone politics hours ago when a high power APC peace delegation was welcomed by President Julius Maada Bio.

Reports say the APC delegation headed by Dr. Samura Kamara, the defeated APC presidential candidate, paid a surprising courtesy call on the residence of President Bio. An historic visit that has all the hallmarks of goodwill, peace and reconciliation for the benefit of all Sierra Leoneans. Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad were absolutely thrilled and delighted after seeing these opposing politicians shaking hands and laughing together, a far cry from the bitterness expressed by both parties during the just ended general elections.

In attendance were the APC running mate Chernor 'Chericoco' Bah, the APC Deputy Chairman Minkailu Mansaray, APC Secretary General Osman Yansaneh, parliamentarian Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, the Mayor-Elect Yvonne Aki Sawyerr and other top stalwarts.

Dr. Samura Kamara is reported to have personally congratulated President Bio and prayed for God to guide the new president. The APC presidential candidate also promised President Bio to provide the best of support to the new SLPP government.

The visibly joyous President welcomed the APC delegation to his house and noted that the country needs everyone on deck at this crucial time to move the country forward.

Observers have no doubt that the peace pipe shared this morning by the APC and SLPP is the best news to date since the run-off result was announced. The maturity shown by the two oldest political parties is remarkable and the news is obviously as welcome as the northern star.
