APC Police Denies Shooting of SLPP Man but Confirms Stabbing Wounds!

By a press release (04/04/18)

The shooting of SLPP supporter by bodyguard of APC Minister in Freetown has now changed to stabbing incident, the police say.

There was pandemonium on Monday morning when one Abubakarr Braimah, a supporter of the main opposition SLPP party was seriously wounded in front of the house of APC Minister of Trade and Industry Allieu Pat-Sowe. The incident happened a stone throw from the residence of Julius Maada Bio, the SLPP leader. (Photo: Poor Braima minutes after he was shot or stabbed?).

But 12 hours after the bloody incident, the police have come out fighting with different reports alleging that poor Abubakarr was never shoot but was intead stabbed. Police are investigating the matter. In this press release below, the police stated:

Nobody was Shot at Goderich - Two Medical Reports Reveal

"There was a disturbing photo making the rounds on social media of a young man purported to have been shot and killed by an Operational Support Division (OSD) personnel. The alleged incident was reported to have happened at Goderich, outside the premises of a government minister, who lives in close proximity to the Sierra Leone Peoples' Party Opposition leader.

"Upon receipt of the information, the Police visited the scene to ascertain its veracity. At the scene, the usual initial preliminaries were done and the young man was removed from the scene and taken to a hospital. This young man is alive and currently receiving medical treatment.

"The SLP Media Team wishes it to be known that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is in possession of two separate medical reports which clearly show that the young man sustained stab wounds as opposed to the information widely peddled on social media that he was shot.

"Be further informed that the CID is presently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, with the view to determining the perpetrator(s) of the act, the circumstances leading to the incident and also what precipitated or could have precipitated the act.

"The Sierra Leone Police continues to rely on the general public to at all times provide the Institution with credible information, as it embarks on its drive to nab and unearth perpetrators of crimes in society. This appeal came as the backdrop that if the public resolves to assist and cooperate with the SLP with credible and timely information, its work would be much easier to achieve.

"It is undeniable, that the SLP, given its numerical strength, cannot, in any way, be found in or at all places, at all times. Hence, the reasoning behind the introduction of community policing (otherwise referred to as Local Needs Policing in the Sierra Leone context) during the restructuring and reformation of the Force. Members of the public have a part to play in day-to-day policing.

"For any vital information members of the public wish to share with the SLP, the 112 Toll-free line is available on all networks in Sierra Leone. Continue to visit, trust and rely on this space for your credible and reliable information," the release ends.
