APC Smiles as APC Fan S.I. Koroma Wins March 31 Run-Off Ruling in Court!
By Abu Shaw in London (27/03/18)
Cocky but jittery APC government has achieved its postponement dream after the Supreme Court endorsed the wish of a diehard APC supporter.
Electoral history favourable to the corrupt APC party was made yestersay after the Supreme Court ruled in favour of an ardent APC supporter who filed an injunction against the National Electoral Commission NEC for irregularities during the March 7 general elections. The injunction was clearly machinated by the APC whose confidence in winning the run-off is gradually drifting in to the gutters by the minute. So the APC, wanting more time to implement its rigging strategies, used one lawyer called Sorie Ibrahim Koroma aka S.I. Koroma to file the injunction. Remember Siaka Stevens' second in command S. I. Koroma, alias AGBASATANY? What a coincidence in 2018!
As electorates gathered at the High Court yesterday, the High Court Justice A.R. Mansaray lifted the interim injunction on the NEC, thus paving the way for the presidential runoff elections to take place not today as was widely expected but is now rescheduled for Saturday March 31, much to the delight of the jittery APC.
The Supreme Court, the highest court in Sierra Leone, confirmed the ban lift and immediately NEC officials and members of the APC and main opposition SLPP and the International Observers met at 4:00pm yesterday to discuss and pan out the date for the run-off. The March 31 date was arrived at as a result.
Reports say the High Court of Sierra Leone granted nine out of the ten orders that the APC plaintiff lawyer S. I. Koroma Esq had presented before the court last week.
These include Manual Counting, Manual Transfer of Result, Manual Tallying, All Party Agents to Receive Results at Polling Stations and Copy Placed Publicly in Tamper Evident Envelopes (TEE), No more Electronic Transfer of Data, Tallying to now be First Done at District Levels before going from District to Region to National, Full Involvement of Security Forces and Party Agents during the Process, The provisions of Section 94 of the Public Elections Act, 2012 shall be complied to the Letter.
In the March 7 polls, the main opposition SLPP party led by Julius Maada Bio surprisingly pipped the ruling APC presidential cadidate Dr. Samura Kamara by a slim margin. A shock that continues to shiver the APC government to this day!
