"We Will Not Support APC or SLPP," NGC and C4C Reiterate Neutrality in Run-Off!

By press releases (27/03/18)

Detractors continue to misinform the public about the genuine neutrality of NGC and C4C parties in the run-off which they allude to mere lies.

It is crucial for the opposition National Grand Coalition NGC and the Coalition 4 Change C4C parties to reiterate that they are not going to lend their support to either the ruling All Peoples Congress APC party or the main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party SLPP in the Tuesday March 27 presidential run-off elections.

In two press statements released by the NGC led by Dr. Kandeh Yumkella (photo, left)  and the C4C led by Alhaji Sam Sumana (photo right), they warned detrators to stop the misinformation and reassured their membership that their neutrality is solid and will never waver from the decisions reached by their members nationwide.

Below are the two press releases issued by both the NGC and C4C, the parties that came third and fourth respectively in the March 7 general elections:

NATIONAL GRAND COALITION PARTY, 17E WILKINSON ROAD, FREETOWN. Tel: 030 748961, ADDITIONAL STATEMENT ON THE 27TH MARCH 2018 PRESIDENTIAL RUN-OFF

It has come to the attention of the leadership of the National Grand Coalition Party that certain individuals purporting to be members or officials of the party have been using the name of the party in canvassing votes for the parties scheduled to face each other in the Presidential run-off elections on March 27.

The NGC wishes to reiterate its position on the run-off elections that was outlined in a statement issued by the party’s Director of Communications and Campaign Spokesman on Wednesday March 21, 2018.

The NGC has not endorsed or entered into a coalition with either the APC or SLPP. It however advised its members and supporters to make their own individual decisions as to who to vote for in the run-off. Any NGC member or supporter who decides to canvas votes for any one of the parties going for the run-off, can only do so in their individual capacities and not in the name of the NGC. Those individuals claiming to be canvasing votes for the APC or SLPP on behalf of the NGC are advised in their own interest to cease and desist forthwith

THE COALITION FOR CHANGE (C4C) GLOBAL SAYS NO RUN-OFF ENDORSEMENT

The Global Executive of the Coalition for Change Party (C4C) has today decided to stay clear of any endorsement of either the SLPP or the APC party in the run-off election scheduled for Tuesday 27 March 2018.

The Global wing of the C4C, which comprises of the founders of the party, decided after a hectic deliberation, Friday night that since widespread fraud marked the March 7, 2018, elections, their party rejects the result and thinks the process is not representative of the people's mandate.

In  light of this, therefore, the following recommendations were made:
• That the opposition parties call on the outgoing President to step down immediately
• That an Interim Government be appointed and given the mandate to hold fresh elections on the last Wednesday of September 2018
• That a new Electoral Commissioner be also appointed to hold credible elections;

The C4C believes that to uphold a real democracy, we must start with reliable polls. Moreover, to avoid irresponsible, unaccountable and corrupt governments in the future, the party cannot endorse any of the two parties in the run-off! Evidently, their selection for the run-off was marked by questionable circumstances.

The Coalition for Change Party calls on its esteemed supporters across the country to make individual decisions on who to vote for, but to remember that the C4C stands for ‘Change.’

The Global Executive wishes to send its most profound and heartfelt appreciation to the supporters of the party, particularly the people of Kono for standing stoutly behind the Flagbearer of the C4C, Chief Alhaji Abubakar Sidique Sahr Sam-Sumana, who was expelled from the APC party in March 2015. Thank you, Kono, thank you, Sierra Leone. Long Live the Coalition for ‘Change’ (C4C). U C4 Me R C4 Yu!
