Thieves' Panic Letter to Burma Community Suburb in Kenema, Alerts Police!

By Philip Koroma (08/01/18)

Residents of Burma community near Kenema town are in a state of shock after receiving a threatening letter from thieves to attack the suburbs.

Reports say the residents who usually trade at night have parked their businesses for fear of robbers carrying out their threat to steal their hard earned but meagre assets. (Photo: Kenema town, wrongly dubbed 'City' Laughable!!!).

There are also confirmed reports that the threatening letter has put panic in Okada riders who ply the Burma routes daily from Kenema town and its environs. Okada riders are now refusing to convey commuters to the threatened areas.

The Sierra Leone Police in Kenema have been notified of the threat posed by such unidentified armed robbers amidst several attacks on peaceful citizens in recent times.

It could be recalled how unidentified armed robbers continue to terrorise some sections in Kenema community recently thus forcing the police to step up its night patrols in the town and surrounding areas in the district.

The residents of Burma community in Kenema town are now appealing to the leadership of the police to increase the number of armed guards deployed in the Burma community.

The Burma Community suburb, around the dilapidated Kenema airport, was predominantly an area occupied by the Limba ethnic group years ago. But the community has broadened in recent years thanks largely to the erection of buildings in the area by other residents.
